They were running up the stairs. She said that’s what they should do. And that’s what they did. If either of the two had asked why, again, she wouldn’t have been able to answer. What was she to say to them? One floor up, her feet came to a screeching halt. The hallway was dark, and quiet, and wider that it should be. All of which couldn’t be more familiar to her. “Go!” She screamed. And go, they did. The moment the darkness overwhelmed her, she felt a splitting ache, beginning at the top of her head, and going all the way down. She felt the hands grab her, and pull her away physically. And that was the thing. The hands that grabbed her physically, actually grabbed Gamble’s body. And what they pulled away, was the very same Gamble’s body.
