Chapter 26

1668 Words
The past three days, I’ve been searching like crazy for my mystery person. I really thought that whoever it is, that they would act different after that kiss. I expected nothing big but I got absolutely nothing, they all treated me exactly the same. I however, did feel different. Everything about that last dare made me want to know who it is, now more then ever. It was slowly driving me nuts   “Cats or dogs?” Alexander asked, reminding me of the conversation. We both had recess together as the last class of the day and we were currently playing a game of ‘ask each other random weird questions’. “Neither but if I had to chose then dogs”, I answered before asking my question “What’s a weird habit of yours?”. “You already know I talk a lot”, he said and I chuckled, waiting for him continue. “I like to socialise with people but I like to observe them as well. It just always amazes me that most communication isn’t even spoken and how you can read people through their actions and mannerism” “So you’re one of those scary perverts that likes to watch people in secret”, I joked, making the both of us chuckle. “Yeah and I constantly drive around the neighborhood with a minivan”, he sarcastically retorted, shaking his head. “You’re such a dork”, I threw at him but he just gave me his signature smile, raising his brows a couple of times at me. “Favorite ice cream flavour?”, he asked next. “I don’t like ice cream”, I spoke and he looked at me like I just grew a second head. He’s not the first person to react that way though. Then you get hit with the ‘who doesn’t like ice cream?’ Me b***h, me… “That’s… You know what, I’m just ignoring that”, he said and wove for me to ask my question. I just chuckled again before coming up with a question “Tell me something not a lot of people know about you” He thought for a bit and his expression turned slightly serious before taking a deep breath. “Well, as you might know, my parents aren’t home a lot. When I was younger I still had my grandparents but after they passed away, the loneliness got a lot worse. I wasn’t just constantly alone but I had to deal with their deaths alone as well. I stopped eating, sleeping, even speaking to my friends so I had to go to a special hospital for a few weeks”, he explained and I felt awful for him. Never knew that he kind of had a similar story as I did yet I felt grateful he trusted me with that. “I got a lot better after that but I guess I just sometimes act up because of that”, he finished, a sad smile on his face. “Thanks for telling me Alex, I can’t imagine what that has been like”, I took his hand and softly squeezed it, trying to comfort him. “It’s alright, I’m just happy you accepted me for who I am”, he said, so many raw emotions in his eyes. “I know for a fact that a lot more people would too if they could see the real you”, I told him and he returned me a smile.   Cutting of our sad moment, the bell went off and most people started to get out their classes to go home. “Are you coming to the party Friday?” Alexander asked as we both stood up, making our way into the hallways as well. “Of course, see you then”, I told him and he nodded, giving me a last smile before walking away. I walked over to my locker and put some of the books in before looking through the people passing by. “Oh, hey Liam”, I said louder and he turned around, smiling brightly at me. “Have you seen Adam?” I asked and he started laughing, shaking his head. “He’s hiding from me, isn’t he?” I spoke monotonously, receiving a nod. “Is it okay if we talk later, I have to go”, he asked, pointing his thump behind him. Right, he’s a busy boy. “Sure, no problem”, I told him and he softly patted my shoulder before swiftly walking away.   Am I really going to interfere? f**k it, it’s my fault anyway. I closed my locker and took my phone out, hoping that he’d at least answer.   -Adam, we need to talk–   -That sentence scares me… Like, a lot… – Adam Wait until we have that talk… I started typing my reply as I walked the hallways, careful not to bump into someone for the millionth time. I walked through the school doors and got outside just as I send the message.   -Can you just come over later, I promise I won’t kill you –   -Sure, but can it after dinner? I have plans with someone in a bit– Adam   -Okay, I’ll be expecting you –   Good, so that’s done. I put my phone away and maneuvered myself through the cars on the parking lot. You should think a bright red scooter would be easy to find… Guess not. I spotted my ride home but a voice behind made me stop dead in my tracks. It can’t be.   “Ella?” No. f*****g. Way. I slowly turned around and my eyes widened with the person in front of me. “What are you doing here?” I asked baffled, taking multiple steps back. My heart started beating like crazy, feeling just as nervous as the rest of me. “I came to talk to you since you won’t return my calls”, my dad explained, looking almost exactly the same as I remembered. How could he just show up here? “What could you possibly say?” I don’t won’t his excuses. Better, I don’t even need them. “I just wanted to see you. I just wanted to make things right”, he said, taking a few steps closer. Tears already were making their way down, making me feel completely overthrown by emotions. “You want to make things right? You could do that by staying away like you have been for all those years” “Ella, I understand this is all overwhelming but I’m your father”, he spoke, trying to have some authority over me. Is this man for real? “No you’re not. My father never would have done that to us”, I cried out, my back bumping into the car behind me. “I just want to fix this”, he tried again and more and more tears went down. “Stay away from me, you’re nothing to me” “Don’t talk to me like that young lady”, he grabbed my arm and I felt absolutely helpless. I always wanted my dad to come back but this is horrible. I don’t want this, I don’t want any of this. “I just need you to listen to-“ “Hey, let her go”, suddenly my dad got pushed back and a back blocked him from me. I wiped away the tears and saw Jason standing in front of me. Thank god… “Who are you?” I heard him passively ask my father but I could feel the aggression. “I’m her father, we were just having a conversation”, my dad said and I heard him take some steps towards me again but Daniel, out of nowhere, stood in front of him next to Jason, preventing him from coming closer. “I think it’s for the best you leave sir”, I heard Daniel speak as Jason turned his back to them, looking at me “Are you okay?” I nodded softly and he let out a frustrated sigh. He rested his hands on my shoulders and leaned down a bit, staring right into my soul. “I made Sarah wait in the car, you should go to them”, he gave me a small smile and motioned for me to go, Daniel still exchanging words with my father. “Okay”, I told Jason and stepped to Sarah’s car. I can’t describe how thankful I am for all these people.   Jason eventually came back and told us he had to go since he was meeting with someone and Sarah and Matthew both thought it was for the best I stayed with them for a while since my mother wasn’t home anyway. I told them I was alright, but they insisted I’d at least stay for dinner to clear my mind.   “Dig in”, Sarah said as she put plates with pasta on the table. It was just the three of us since their parents weren’t home either. I took the first bite and fell immediately in love with the dish. “s**t, this stuff is good”, I instantly put another fork in my mouth, absolutely enjoying the taste of it. Normally I’m not that big of a fan of pasta but I could eat this everyday for the rest of my live. “We forced Daniel to cook yesterday but I could eat those leftovers any day”, Matthew spoke, shoving a big fork of pasta in his mouth and leaning back in his chair. These are f*****g leftovers? “Daniel made this? Damn, didn’t know he could cook”, I told them. Guess our bad boy has a talent for cooking, probably like one of the many things I don’t know about him. “If you love this, you should taste his lasagna”, Sarah commented. “Invite me next time he’s cooking”, I told her and saw my phone light up as it laid on the table.   -So, did you enjoy your little dare Clark?– unknown He asks me that after two days…   -You kind of cheated though –   “What’s he saying?” I looked up from the phone, Sarah and Matthew both excitingly looking at me. Yeah, sike. “Well neither of you is telling me who it is, so I’m not telling you”, I gave them a sly smile and looked back down to the new message.   -How come?– unknown   -You asked for a hug, not a kiss –   -Well, I take what I can and I don’t have the feeling you really minded– unknown This.sly.fuck.   -Doesn’t matter, you cheated. I don’t like cheaters –   -You know what, sure I’ll take it. As apology I will not just give two, but three dares. How does that sound?– unknown   -Oh honey, you’re gonna regret kissing me – No way I’m letting these dares go to waste, I’m too close.   -Game on princess– unknown
