“Oh come on, just spill Matthew”
Instead of answering his sister Matthew just turned to me, a sheepish smile on his face. Maybe telling Sarah that her brother knows who this ‘stalker’ is wasn’t the best idea.
“Let me read the letter you got today and I might give you a tip”
“One, ‘might’ really isn’t gonna cut it and two, no. It’s personal…”, I told him, finishing up my lunch. Blake, Eric and Jason sat next to us on the table, having a conversation of their own.
“But you let these two read it“, he whined, pointing to Sarah and Sophia.
“Yeah, because they were with me when I read it”, I responded.
“Can’t you just give us a tip anyway? Pretty please?”, Sophia said with the most innocent voice possible, batting her eyelashes at him.
“That only works on Oliver, sweetheart”, he smiled at her and her face immediately turned into a frown. She mumbled a ‘screw you’ before Sarah backed her up. “Stop changing the subject, you ass. Just tell us”.
We all turned to him with pleading expressions and after a little while he sighed, letting us know we won.
“Fine. I’ll answer one question, ONE”, he gave up and I immediately started thinking. He’s probably not going to answer if I just ask his name, so that’s kinda pointless. And questions about his appearance he’s probably not going to answer either… I felt Sarah nudge me before she leaned down to my ear.
“Ask him to give you a specific characteristic that makes him stand out. That way we might also know if he’s close with that person”, she whispered and I instantly nodded. That’s a good one. Vague enough for him to answer but still specific enough to cross out some names. At least I hope…
“Give me a characteristic that really makes him stand out”, I asked and I saw him thinking for a minute. So maybe he doesn’t know that much about the person. Or he could be trying to come up with a good answer.
“Okay, so rather or not I’m close with the person in question, I can tell you that he’s really protective of you. I saw that on Friday”, he answered but it still didn’t clear up much.
“So we just have to bring her in danger and he’d come to save the day?” Sophia asked casually, my head immediately snapping to her.
“Chill, I was just kidding”, she said when she noticed our reactions.
After a few more minutes the bell went and we said our goodbyes. Sarah and I both had PE so after we changed, we went outside as the teacher wanted us to run ‘a few’ laps before we started.
“So I heard from Sophia you’re seeing Ethan tonight”, Sarah wiggled her eyebrows at me as we jogged around the football field.
“I’m not ‘seeing’ Ethan, we have a project together”, I explained to her but she just hummed turning her gaze forward again.
“I’m being serious, he’s just a friend”
“Uhu”, she quickly responded as both of us were already heavily panting.
Man, if there is anything that I truly hate, than it’s running. Why? Well why not. It’s stupid, tiring and I don’t really see the point. I just don’t understand why they have to do this to me…
My pity party immediately came to an end when I felt myself collide with someone. Wow, third time’s the charm, right?
“Can you watch where you’re going”, I looked up and saw Daniel looking at me with a not so amused expression.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t really paying attention”
“Obviously”, he snarled at me. Jeez, can he dim it down a few tones.
“Dude, I said I was sorry so can you stop being an ass?” I snarled back.
“Do I look like I give a f**k?” he said in a low voice, taking an intimidating step closer to me. Allright, I really should learn how to shut up.
“Daniel, chill”, Sarah told him but he just glared at me for a few seconds before leaving us alone again.
“Why does he hate me?” I turned to her.
“He doesn’t, he just doesn’t open up to people easily. Come on”, she answered me and we both started running again, a comfortable silence between us. I took the silence to summarize everything I knew about my suspects.
Adam does give me weird vibes but apart from that hasn’t really given me any reason to suspect him. He did get my number from Michelle the first day but he’s my cousin’s boyfriend for f***s sake…
I just really don’t like Alexander. Not that I really have a lot to judge him on but every time I do see him, he’s just looking for something to put his d**k into. Definitely see him as stalker material…
Ethan has been nothing but nice to me and I’m genuinely having a nice time with him. Plus he was with me when I fist got a text. But then again, I was pretty drunk that night so he might taken his phone out or not.
I don’t really have any suspicions against Oliver, he’s just an absolute sweetheart. I do have to say that he was one of the first that showed interest in being friends with me and he did admit I was one of his favorite people. I would really smack him on the head if it turns out to be him though, he can’t do that to Sophia.
Daniel just full on despises me, I don’t care how many people tell me that he doesn’t. The first time he spoke, I thought he wasn’t just attractive but nice as well but turns out that was a joke. I just can’t believe he would ever have written that letter, let alone to me… He’s protective about his friends, sure but about me? Highly doubt it…
I would be impressed if it was Eric. We haven’t said anything except ‘hey’ to each other. But he does seem like the more silent type anyway.
Jason I just do not understand. I’ve seen that he’s in a grumpy mood most of the time but he’s only mean to me whenever Oliver’s around me. He’s at least a little more subtle with the glaring unlike some other people…. **Daniel**.
And Liam could just kidnap me for all I care and I would be completely fine with it. He’s just so sweet and handsome, *major understatement, that he could step on me and I would just genuinely thank him. But he could have easily made the bathroom incident up and he’s been checking up on me quite often, just saying…
After the most exhausting hour of PE ever and some more boring lectures it was finally time to go home. I had the last class without any of my friends but I didn’t really mind, most people were being nice to me anyway. I should probably change and have a snack or something when I come home before Ethan comes over. I don’t know how long we’re gonna be working and I honestly have the concentration of a goldfish so we better start as soon as we can.
“Hey Ella, wait up” I turn around and see James and Adam walking up to me.
“Hey hot stuff”, Adam adds and I just shake my head.
“Why don’t you go look for Liam?” James shoos him away and he eventually turns away, leaving me alone with James.
“What’s up?” I ask him.
“Just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I swear, Liam hasn’t shut up about you”, he spoke and we started walking as I gave him a confused look.
“He really fancies you”, he smiles at me and I feel my cheeks heat up. Why would Liam like me? And since when?
“Oh, hey Eric”, I hear James say and I look up to see Eric walking up to us.
“Hey”, he answer him before shortly nodding at me. Like I said, not really a talkative guy.
“How’s the girlfriend?” James asks. What? How did I not know this? Better, how did Sarah and Sophia not know this?
“Good, I’m picking her up in a bit”, Eric tells him.
“Well, give my cousin a hug from me, will yah?” So Eric’s together with James’ cousin…
“Yeah, see you later”, he tells us before walking off. Well, there goes Eric as suspect…
“Anyway, I gotta go too. See you around” James speaks and gives me a big smile before walking away as well.
So that leaves Adam, Ethan, Alexander, Oliver, Daniel, Jason or Liam. One down, seven to go.
Noting that, I take a deep breath and calmly made my way home.
Some time after I got home Ethan had come over and after two hours of working on the project, our concentration faded and we ended up straying of.
“I totally hate history”, Ethan said shoving away some of the papers in front of him.
“Same, definitely if the teacher loves to give homework”
“Exactly”, he agreed before taking a deep breath.
“So, what do you think about the whole Oliver Sophia thing?” I asked Oliver as we both sat at the dinning table.
“I’m not sure. I know Oliver better than Sophia and I think that he’s either just completely clueless about her feelings or knows but just really sees her as a friend”, he explained.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure he’s just clueless”
“So what about you?” he asked after, a creepy smile on his lips.
“What about me?”
“Any boys that sparked your interest?” he asked, wiggling his eyebrows. Yes but I mean I’ve been here like not even a week… No major crushes just yet.
“No, not really”, I told him and I saw his smile drop.
“Well that’s boring”, he muttered me, leaning back in his chair.
“It’s not, so what about you then?” I spoke, placing my arms over my chest.
“Oh, wouldn’t you want to know”, he winked at me and took out his phone before he looked back up.
“Hey, dinner’s ready. Gotta go”, he told me and stood up, gathering his stuff and putting it back in his bag.
“Sure, we can finish the rest tomorrow or something”, I said as we walked to the door. I open the front door, the cold breeze from outside immediately making me chilly.
“Sounds great”, he said before stepping out.
“Goodnight Ethan”
“Goodnight Clark”, he flashed me a smile and calmly walked back to his house.
