Chapter 2

As we entered the building, I felt like the staring got even worse and I had to keep reminding my body not to go into panic mode. "I should have thought first about going inside with you", I quietly said to myself. Michelle would always make heads turn because of her looks. It’s not that I was ugly or that I wasn’t pretty but next to Michelle, I was as average as a person could be.   "This isn't me sweetie, you know they're looking at you right?" Michelle spoke and I rolled my eyes at her "Why even would they? Except for me being the new girl" "Girl, are you for real?" she stopped walking to look at me and put her hands on her hips. "Ella, you are beautiful. You're tall, got a perfect skin, even the curves are there girl. Of course everyone is gonna be interested in the new beautiful toy of the school", she winked at me and even though I knew she had meant well, that last part made me feel even worse than I already did. ‘You’re my toy to do with as I please, do you understand little rose?’   I quickly shook myself out of the memory and started walking again, my head cast down. It’s not going to be like that again, I won’t let it. Michelle turned a corner and we entered a much calmer hallway, giving myself the space to calm down a bit. It’s no use to have a panic attack right now. "Now we just have to go get your sche-" Michelle stopped as an extremely handsome guy wrapped his arm around her waist, a big smile quickly forming on her lips. "Hey babe", the guy spoke as he leaned down to kiss her cheek. Well, can it be anymore cliché; the prom queen dating the hot football player.  I let my eyes wander over the guy and I had to say it, he looked freaking gorgeous. He was pretty tall, had those dreamy blue eyes, half long black hair and a very muscular body that even his shirt couldn’t hide. He would fit the description of every high school girl’s dream boyfriend but the moment he looked at me and smirked, I knew enough.    "And who is this?" he asked innocently. "This is my cousin, Ella", Michelle answered, fondly smiling at him. "Ella, this is my boyfriend Adam", she finally introduced him and he reached his hand out to me. "It's very nice to meet you Ella", he said and I hesitantly took his hand, shaking it. To say he already made me feel uncomfortable would be describing it lightly, certainty as his hold on my hand lasted a little too long to my liking.  He finally let go and Michelle started talking to him about something while I continued to stand there, being the literal definition of a third wheel. Great, just great I let me eyes slowly wonder around but soon, goosebumps started to appear on my skin. I had this weird feeling that someone was watching me but when I looked around, I noticed it was just me and the two love birds in the hallway. "Hey cous, you ready to go?" Michelle asked. I turned around again and I nodded my head "Yeah sure, let's go" She pressed a kiss on her boyfriend’s cheek before I followed her further down the hall. As I walked past Adam though, he grabbed my arm lightly and I flinched as he leaned down to my ear. "It was really nice meeting you, Ella" he smiled at me again as he pulled back before walking the opposite way. Note to myself, stay away from Adam.   Inhaling deeply, I shook the weird feeling he gave me off and ran after Michelle. The rest went as it pretty much always goes; got my schedule, my books and put them in my locker. "So, now that's done", Michelle said and grabbed the schedule from my hands. "What subject do you have first?", she asked herself as her eyes scanned the paper. I was praying that we would start together, it would be a lot easier for me to make new friends that way. "Well, that sucks. You've got math first with miss Willow, she's really nice" she stated and I couldn’t help the pout that came to my face. "That's good I guess" "So your math class is down the hall on your left. You'll be fine Ella", she reassured me, pointing in a direction of the hallway. "Thanks Michelle", I gave her a small smile before she raised her hand, softly patting my shoulder "Your welcome El. See you at lunch?" "Yeah, I'll see you there", I said and with that she walked to her class.   After a good five minutes though, I realised that the 'just down the hall on your left' was I little too vague for me and mentally cursed her multiple times.  Well, that's just great. This school is a f*****g maze... I kept looking down at the schedule, clearly not paying enough attention as I accidentally bumped into someone. Before I could even react, I was greeted by a loud, screeching voice "Are you blind or something?" I looked up at the blond as she half yelled in my face and couldn’t help but cringe a little back at the sound of it. "Im sorry, I'm new and I couldn't fi-" "Do I look like a care? Just get out of my way" she spat and my eyes shortly darted to the guy standing next to her. No doubt he was her boyfriend. A guy looking like that, always had a girlfriend. A smile played on his lips as he stared back at me and I found myself absolutely speechless by him. I didn’t have much time to drool however as the girl scoffed loudly and pulled the guy with her, leaving me absolutely dumbfounded.     What. the actual. f**k. just happened? I just stood there shocked for a good five seconds when someone else picked up the schedule that I apparently had dropped. "Don't mind her, that's just Ashley at her finest", a pretty girl with curly red hair spoke as she looked at the paper in her hands. "Ah, math with miss Willow. I have that class as well", she continued with a bright smile playing on her lips and gave me the schedule back. "I am Sophia by the way, Sophia Morris" she spoke sweetly "Thanks and I'm Ella" "Let's walk together", she said and linked her arm with mine, surprising me for a second as she started pulling me forward.  She was obviously very social but I liked her so far. It would be nice to finish high school with some friends.  We arrived at the class and Sophia immediately dragged me to a desk at the window. Again, my classmates were staring but I felt myself slowly untense as Sophia distracted me a little with a random story. The last people started to fill the classroom and I reached out for my phone as I felt it vibrating in my pocket   -Hey sweety, whatsha doin after school?- unknown That’s kinda weird…   -Who’s this?- I replied and almost immediately, I received another text.   -Wow, didn’t think you’d forget me that fast. I really thought we had a special connection earlier…- unknown Rolling my eyes, I typed my reply.   -Adam?-   -Bingo! So, you wanna go out later babe? – Adam   -First off all, what’s with the names? And secondly; you have a girlfriend, aka my cousin, so I don’t think so-   -Haha, Michelle wanted you to go with her to a party later and told me to ask you since her phone died…- Adam Well s**t, now I feel bad. Doing great on the friend department there…   -Ow, sorry. Just tell her I’ll think about it…-   -But hey, don’t be too jealous. I’m sure I can make some time just for you if you want ;) - Adam Scrap me feeling bad, this dude is bad news. Looking up back up, I found Sophia staring at me.   “Sorry, what?”, I asked her quickly. “I wanted to know if you’re going to the party later. A guy from our year is having a ‘start of the year party’ since it’s Friday”, she wiggled her brows at me. “I’ll think about it”, I replied and before she could answer me, the teacher came in.   "Alright class, settle down please", began miss Willow. I quickly put my phone away, totally ignoring Adam’s last message and focused my attention on the horror called math. So far so good.
