M O O N D A Y pt. 1
It all started on the day their worlds collided. The day when people of technology, falcons of the northern mountains, leopard tamers of the Brilthor fields and werewolves of the sacred forest celebrated the only holiday they had in common and one they all wished did not exist.
It was the only day in the year when the city gates opened, allowing everything that lived outside the modern world to enter, but nobody dared to place a foot on marble paths nor did insiders care to leave. Opening the gate was more of an order than a sign of peace. In the end, the city leaders never liked the idea of it, but it was one versus three so they could not decline in order to keep their honor. While the great city of Ekaia had a handful of elders running the government, Ridle, whose position was suspiciously unknown, seemed to rule over the land of wheeled vehicles, airplanes and concrete forests as if he was a king and Ekaia a small castle surrounded by gold infused brick wall inhabited by rotten, moldy wooden houses.
This holiday took place when the sister planet covered the sun entirely for what was said to be 32 hours, on the 13th of Aska, also known as August in the modern world. The spirit of Selene, Queen of Moon and Wishes, lit up the Moon using her power alone in order to keep the world away from falling into chaos. Even though Selene was not guardian of the people, in fact, Selene only did what she had to in order to protect herself and werewolves, this day was her duty no matter she liked it or not. Her lack of interest in other races and cultures upset her sister Aurora, Queen of the Sun and Innocence, but as her oath to Mother did not allow her to argue, Selene soared the skies and roamed the deep woods alone as if she was not a royalty or Mother's descendant.
Selene was far from human or a werewolf. It was said that she was a relative of falcons, but she was more of an owl than a mountain hunter. She had a long body of a snake covered in black scales and hair that were lighter than air. Her feathered wings seemed too large for her body and tip of her tail was a gorgeous fur ball hiding steering feathers inside, 6 spike-like legs were sharp like knives. Selene's head seemed familiar, but it wasn't leopard nor werewolf, her ears were covered in long feathers. Although there was a trace, Selene did not have a mouth or nostrils, only two oversized white eyes with black slits. Though whenever the sun rose she wasn't as beautiful. Her eyes turned black with white slits, indicating her loss of vision, and her body turned into dirty gray. Selene could only see in the shadows, perhaps that was why she chose the sacred forest as her permanent resting place.
Unfortunately, this gorgeous beast has not been seen in over a hundred years and the moon never shone in the night sky since. It was believed Selene's time on the planet has ran out and she had to reincarnate into a peasant in order to continue living, but there was no sign of such human, werewolf or tamer ever since the last moon. Because of this, the Moonday was greatly feared by all races, but they promised to keep their old traditions.
Seven years ago Ridle did not open the gates to the modern city, which was an act against the other three races, spirits and the Mother herself. This action turned the outside world against Ekaia and its people, though it did not change the opinions of its citizens. For thousands of years the modern city inhabitants claimed stories of spirits were simply fairytales and that the werewolf kind never existed to begin with. Ekaia people claimed themselves as superior ever since before the Moon fell and tried to invade the sacred forest as it hid materials that could be used to upgrade their technologies and, possibly, take over the rest of humanoid world. Werewolves, who were half human half wolf, shifting into full wolf form in times of need, did not allow any human species into the forest under their fallen Queen's command, which upset government of Ekaia. Mentioning the existence of werewolves was f*******n. Since then, the sacred forest was known as forest of no return.
