Chapter 1: Arranged To Alpha Cedar
“s**t!” I saw blood dripping down my thighs and staining the sheets. I shrieked again, wincing when I couldn't remember anything. My hands gripped my head as the ache increased. I was in a strange, but flashy hotel room. I searched around the empty space and found a stash of cash on the bed table. As soon as I touched the money, memories of last night began flashing back. I screwed my eyes tight, holding a side of my head. “Dance with me.” “You look dangerous, Mr.” “Angel. But that won't stop you.” I popped my eyes open and blinked at the wad of cash in my hand. He had deep blue eyes and a sexy voice that turned me on with every word out of his mouth. My Omega wolf even reacted strongly to him. His scent was delicious. It intoxicated me more than the strongest wine. When I shut my eyes to smell that lovely scent again, another memory flashed. “Mate!” I slapped my hand over my mouth as I gasped, eyes bulging from their sockets. I just had a one night stand with my fated mate, who was now nowhere to be seen. Wrapping the sheets around myself, I dashed into the bathroom, checking outside the windows after I found it empty, but the suite was so high up that I couldn't see the ground. I took a shower and put my clothes on in a haste. When the elevator dinged open, I ran out on 8-inch high heels, only to collide with a sturdy wall. “Ahh!” My ankle twisted and I yelped as I lost my balance. “s**t. s**t. Shit.” But someone’s arm quickly slinked around my waist and caught my fall. When I looked up, I was staring into the stormiest greys I had ever seen. This man’s eyes were special and so was his perfect speed. It was too good to be true for a human. I was an Omega wolf. My sense of smell was lacking amongst everything else. It was the reason I was my parents least favourite child. “This is what happens when you buy things off the flea market,” he chuckled and it took a moment for me to process his words. I pushed away from his muscled chest and checked out the damage that was now my heels-for-special-occasions. One heel came off while the other still stood strong. This stranger might have been an arrogant and rude rich folk for pointing out my obvious lack of money but he raised a good point. “What are you…” I ignored him and took them both off, racing bare feet across the lobby for the front desk. I needed to know the name of the man who brought me here. My chest heaved as I slammed into the edge of the desk wood. “Hello! Good morning,” I was panting like a crazy person, “Uhm, I'm from—Suite 64. Can I please have the name of the person who booked our room?” I was so desperate. I had been searching for my mate for years, but my parents and everyone in the Silvermist pack believed I was meant to end up alone. There was nothing good that would come of me, my mother had said when Lara’s arranged marriage to the billionaire Alpha was announced. “Give me a minute, ma’am.” She took her sweet time and finally replied, “Flora Thorne. That's the name on the check-in list.” “Are you certain?” I frowned in confusion, mumbling to myself about how that was absurd. “Please, that can't be right. Check again—“ “Ma’am, you're obstructing our work. Kindly check out or renew.” The woman behind the front desk smiled at me, but I could tell a snarl was hidden behind it. I had to leave the hotel building, so disoriented. But as I walked past the revolving doors, I saw him again. Grey-eyes dangled my shoes in front of me. “You seem to be forgetting something, Flora.” I froze for a second and my eyes immediately latched onto the flashy black Cullinan he was leaning against. “How do you know my name?” “I think it's obvious. Get in, I'll drop you off.” I pried my cheap heels out from his hands and offered a curt smile. “No, thank you.” Suddenly, he grabbed my elbow and hauled me back. I gasped when I collided with his hard chest for the second time this morning. His eyes were all I could see. “I’m not used to that word, Flora.” His voice melted like butter over me. I tried to remember the man’s voice from last night. If I could compare the two, which would win the mark for hottest thing on the planet? “Well, there's a first time for everyone.” I moved away sharply, not failing to notice his incredible strength, something only an Alpha could possess. But that couldn’t be possible. Quickly, he reached into his car and brought out a shopping bag. I didn't stop to wait for him to do that. I already walked down the entryway. But the next thing I knew, this stranger was down on one knee, fitting my foot into a pair of white sneakers. They were perfectly my size and comfortable. I had to bite back my protest because the idea of not walking home on bare feet felt good. “I’m not sure your girlfriend would like the idea of you giving out her shoes.” “First, I should find my fated mate before I can have one, don't you think so?” he pinched his gaze seductively, confirming my suspicions that he was indeed my kind. I was short of words until a black sedan zoomed close and pulled over next to me. My furious mother stepped down from the car and my body began to tremble. “Flora!” I gulped and rushed a whisper, “Thank you for the shoes, grey-eyes. Bye!” I dashed over to the other side of the car and slipped into the backseat. She was still staring weirdly at the stranger that helped me. After a minute, she flanked me on the seat. “Mother, I can explain—“ A hard slap landed on my face as the car began to move. I lowered my head, hand on my burning cheek. She could have let me tell her the good news. My mate was out there, though he was still missing for now. “You insolent brat!” she screamed in my ear and I flinched. “You are truly my worst mistake because tell me why you are at a hotel when you should have been at home supporting Lara!” My eyes widened as I realised I was f****d. “s**t. Has the Alpha visited our home?” My mother sighed and sat back, adjusting her elegant black dress. I was looking like I had just jumped out of a hamper and nothing like her. She didn't respond. When the car arrived at our home, she got down first and I followed, noticing the extra security around the house. Lara was seated at a man’s side in the living room as we walked in. My father was laughing at something she said. When they turned to us, my heart stopped. “Flora! Where have you been? Meet Alpha Cedar,” Lara said in an excited tone. The mate I was so excited about. The one who had just taken my first time and rudely dropped a wad of cash next to me was right here in my living room. As my sister's arranged mate.
