AUTHOR'S NOTE: hi everyone, i want to apologize for the impromptu break. unfortunately, i fell sick and had to be hospitalized, i'm all better now, thanks to everyone who expressed their concerns.
i also wanted to inform the few readers i have that i might be moving Wild Love to a different platform soon. my reason is that Dreame/Stary aren't upholding their end of the contract i signed and are refusing to sign my books so that way i don't earn money for writing. i just felt like you all deserved to know for giving my book a chance.
i'll keep updating here for now and will let you know when the book will be moved and also give out details to anyone who is interested in continuing to read this story. thank you everyone! compliments of the season!

Kira was thrashing around on her wide bed and looked to be in pain, it made Jael panic.
He howled quietly and tried to nudge her but she didn’t seem to notice his presence, rolling from one side of the bed to another that had Jael running around the bed to stop her from falling.
Jael really wanted to speak then, he wanted to ask Kira what was wrong and try to fix it but he couldn’t do that. He howled again, louder this time and it seemed to break Kira out of whatever haze she was in.
“J-Jael?” Kira opened her eyes and blinked blearily. Her throat was so dry it itched and her body was starting to burn up but it wasn’t due to a fever. She couldn’t believe her awful luck, her heat had to come on a day like this.
Jael nudged Kira’s arm again with his nose, making a soft whine in his throat.
“I’m fine.” Kira croaked out, reaching out a shaky hand to pat his head. “You shouldn’t be here though, go back to watching your show, I just need to sleep it off.”
Kira was used to braving through her heats before, they weren’t fun but she would live. Once the rain was done, she would call Helena.
Heats had only slight effects on Betas so she wasn’t worried about Jael or Helena being around her but she didn’t want Jael to worry, it was why she was shooing him off.
Jael looked unconvinced but he slowly backed away nonetheless, giving Kira worried looks as he went out the door.
Kira sighed when Jael was gone, she felt bad about chasing him off like that but it was best this way.
Although it was cold, Kira’s body felt like a furnace, she tiredly dragged herself off the messy bed and trudged off to the bathroom. What she needed then was a warm bath, it might help her fall asleep again.
She hurriedly peeled off her clothes as soon as she stepped into the bathroom, not even having the presence of mind to close the door behind her. The texture of her clothes rubbing against her sensitive skin was driving her crazy so she was eager to take them off.
Her tousled blonde hair fell down to the middle of her bare back as she stepped over to the bathtub.
A sigh of relief fell past Kira’s lips as she sank into the tub of water, it was warm enough to cool her down without being uncomfortable. The soft sway of the water against her sensitized skin didn’t feel as unbearable as the sheets did.
Her body still throbbed which was to be expected, it was just the first day of her three-day heat and her body was starting to prepare for what was to come.
She never had to experience the maddening arousal that heats caused fortunately because she was always knocked out with a sleeping pill. It was the main reason she needed Helena over, she needed her friend to get her some sleeping pills from the clinic on her way there.
Kira sank deeper till the water rose to her neck, she just had to survive till the rain was over then call Helena, it sounded very simple.
What she didn’t expect however was for Jael to shift to his human form in an eagerness to help her and show up with a sledgehammer to ruin her plans.
While Kira was settling in the tub, Jael went to the living room. He stood for a few minutes, thinking of what to do.
The simple thing to do would have been to shift back to his human form and then communicate with Kira. Because of all the time he spent practicing, he could walk and talk effortlessly. But that wasn’t the issue here, the issue was that Kira would find out that he could shift to his human form, and then she would get rid of him.
Jael didn’t want to be separated from Kira and was willing to remain in his wolf form forever if that was what it took. So he was presented with a difficult decision to make, Kira’s scent made him very worried because he had never smelled something like that, not to mention, she also looked and sounded very weak.
She had definitely sent him off so that he wouldn’t be worried, it was exactly the kind of thing that Kira would do.
That made Jael’s mind up for him, it would wreck him if he got taken away from Kira but what would be even worse was if something terrible happened to her.
With his mind made up, he hurried over to his room that didn’t really get any use unless Kira was giving him a bath. She had told him about the clothes that she got for him and it made Jael wary the first time she said it because he thought that he had been found out.
It had been even nicer to realize that she had bought him clothes just because she was looking forward to when he shifted. If Jael hadn’t been holding back for a very important reason, he would have shifted right then.
He shifted and then brought out the clothes that Kira bought him, he had been looking forward to wearing them but not this way.
He had no other choices though, Kira was the most important person in the world to him, and it was his duty to take care of her.
When Jael started practicing to walk outside, it came easier to him because he wasn’t worried about knocking anything over and in a couple of days, he could already run around.
He learned from the television though that women liked strong and muscular men and without a second thought, he started exercising as well. He refused to study it too deeply that the reason he was doing it was that he wanted Kira to like him, instead, he settled on the fact that if he was strong, he would be able to protect Kira.
