Jael c****d his head to the side and then stepped back before leaning down with his front paws, his big tail swishing around like he was encouraging her to get on.
“What?” Kira exclaimed in surprise, laughing. “You want to carry me?” She clarified.
Jael hurried forward to gently nudge her with his cold nose, he had been aiming to lick her face before but then seemed to remember and stopped in time. After nudging her, he stepped back again to resume his previous position.
Kira considered it, she really wanted him to get adequate exercise and she also didn’t want to lose sight of him. This was the perfect solution to all her problems, plus Jael wanted it, it didn’t hurt to give it a try.
“Thank you.” She said politely, walking closer to him to carefully get on his back.
Werewolves were bigger than average wolves but Jael was on another level, it made Kira consider the fact that he might be an Alpha. He had spent so long in the wild though that it was hard to tell, it was why even the clinic was still considering him to be an abnormal wolf.
Kira couldn’t help but squeal when Jael stood up to his full height, she laid flat on his back, holding tightly to him for fear of falling down.
Jael would have balked at anyone else trying to get on him but this female was different, she was so soft and sweet that it made him want to take care of her. He moved carefully at first so that she would adapt to riding on him.
Soon he was running over thick snow, icy wind blowing over his thick fur. Evergreen trees covered in snow whipped past them in a rush but Jael didn’t slow down.
Kira laughed so hard that tears ran down her flushed face, she didn’t have to worry about them getting missing because Jael knew exactly how to get back to the house.
He slowed down to a walk when the cottage was in view and Kira slumped against his thick fur in exhaustion even though she wasn’t the one running about. It made her realize that she was too delicate to keep up with Jael.
She would just have to let him out every day to go on a run since he could find his way back to the cottage himself. Because if she took him on a walk every day, she would break down from the strain.
Jael must have noticed how worn out she was because he sniffed her curiously when she got down from his back to open the front door. She had also gone quiet over half an hour ago, the cold getting to her.
Kira had plans to soak in the hot tub for at least an hour before taking a well-needed nap. She tiredly opened the door, and waited for Jael to lumber in, tracking in snow as he did before she locked up behind him.
She made sure to brush off his coat in the cramped hallway, leading him to his bedroom. She would probably need to give him a bath soon but she was too exhausted for it. For today, drying his fur with a hair dryer should serve.
Kira brought out a large mat and placed it at the centre of the sparsely decorated room. “Jael, sit here.” She directed him, her voice tired but sweet.
Jael immediately moved to obey her, waiting patiently for what she would do next. He had wanted to chase down prey but he was aware of her weight on his back, he didn’t want to put her in danger.
He c****d his head curiously when she left the room and came back with something in her hands. He wanted to ask what she was holding but he was hesitant. Nobody ever cared to listen to him but not only did he want to ask her, he also missed her voice.
Jael noticed that ever since they came back from their run, she had been very quiet, it made him nervous. So when she came closer, he whined and nudged at her hands, c*****g his head to the side again when she looked up.
“Oh?” Kira instantly brightened up. “You want to know what this is?” She asked, running her hand through his wet fur. “It’s a hair dryer, I use it to get the water out of my hair, it should work for your fur too.”
Jael rumbled low in his throat in satisfaction when she started to talk again, her voice was so gentle and kind, he really liked to hear it. He didn’t even flinch when she brought the strange object close to him, he trusted her to not harm him.
Kira laughed when she could hear Jael growl low and long in a way that sounded like a purr when she blasted him with the hot air. “You like?” She found herself asking him again.
Jael didn’t hesitate this time and let out a happy howl, howling some more when Kira laughed harder. The warm air was really nice on him, he wanted it everywhere.
Kira was relieved that Jael took to the hair dryer because she would be using it on him a lot, it was more effective than a towel and she didn’t want the cold to get to him. Although that was ridiculous seeing as he used to live out in the wild before he was found.
The hot air not only dried Jael’s fur, it also put the large werewolf right to sleep. Kira couldn’t help her smile as he tried to fight to stay awake only to get drowsier and drowsier.
When he was all dry, she gently patted him. “Come on, Jael.” She whispered softly. “You’ve got to get on the bed.” She hummed to him, helping him as much as she could to move his drowsy body over to the bed.
Jael sleepily blinked his eyes open one more time to get a last look at Kira.
Kira gently petted his head. “It’s fine, you can go to sleep now.” She murmured to him, leaving only after she was sure that he was fast asleep.
