Chapter 10- RYAN

Chapter 10 Ryan I woke up a few hours later, my alarm buzzing, waking me up. My head was banging through lack of sleep. I tried calling Julia right away, but her phone went straight to voicemail. I showered and was ready before I tried calling again. Still voicemail “Hey Julia, I don’t know who told you about last night, but I swear it wasn’t what you think. She knocked into me, spilling her drink all over my shirt, and as I turned to leave, she grabbed and kissed me. I pushed her off me straight away. I’m sorry baby, but I swear it’s the truth. I love you. I’m not giving up on us. I’m gonna go back to my moms, I’ll try and catch a later flight and wait to see if you turn up at the airport. I love you baby, I know you love me, we’ll get past this, I promise” I hung up. I opened the bedroom door, finding Oliver passed out on the sofa. I know it was irrational, but I blamed him for what happened last night. If he hadn’t dragged me out to a f*****g party that I had no interest in going to, that slut wouldn’t have f*****g kissed me and made Julia dump my sorry ass. I was f*****g pissed. I went to the small kitchenette in our dorm and filled a glass with ice cold water. I walked over to where he was lying unconscious on the sofa and trickled the icy water on his face. “What the f**k!” he yelled jumping up. He was still f*****g drunk. “Did you f*****g set me up?” I shouted at him. “St you up? You’ve just poured f*****g ice water on me man, and you’re asking if I set you up? What the f**k are you talking about?” he asked. He stormed into the bathroom and grabbed a towel for his face and chest. He came back out a few seconds later. “What the f**k is wrong with you?” Why did you want me to go to that party last night?” I demanded, ignoring his question. “So you could lighten up, I’m not being funny but since you got with Julia, you’ve been only going to parties with them. I missed having my wingman.” “I was never your f*****g wingman. Every party we went to, you left me after five minutes as soon as you found a girl to f**k!” “What the f**k happened last night? Wait,” he checked his cell, “why aren’t you at the airport? Isn’t your flight soon?” he asked. “Julia dumped me last night because some girl f*****g shoved her tongue down my throat, and someone took a picture and sent it to Julia.” I confessed. “s**t. Who the f**k would do that? Did you kiss her back man?” “No! I don’t know who it was, but they must have planned it because it happened too quickly. As soon as her lips landed on mine- I pushed her off. Someone must have planned for this to be able to have their phone ready.” It all made f*****g sense now. Why did I not f*****g realize this last night? I tried calling Julia again, and when she didn’t answer, I found Emmy’s number and called her instead. “What do you want Ryan?” She asked. “Emmy, don’t hang up. It was a set up. Someone set me up. I swear to God, as soon as her lips touched mine, I pushed her off. Someone must have been ready with their cell to take a picture before I pushed her back.” She was quiet for a minute. “I believe you.” She said. Relief washed over me as I sank down on to the sofa. “I was thinking about it last night and I realized the same thing. I know how much you love Julia, and I believe you wouldn’t do that. But because Riley did, she believes you did too.” Riley. Of f*****g course- it must have been him. “But that doesn’t mean I can get Julia to change her mind. She is a mess; she is f*****g heartbroken Ryan.” I slumped down, I hated thinking of the pain my girl was in. “Please, let me come round and speak to her. I need her to know how much I love her.” I begged, “I’m sorry Ryan, but she doesn’t want to see you. Go back home and see your mom, I will try and convince Julia to talk to you when you get back, ok?” I nodded, made sense. “Yeah, ok.” “Have a safe flight, I’ll talk to you when you get back.”    I arrived at the airport a little while later. My flight was supposed to be in an hour, but I was able to push it back another 2 hours when I told the woman at the desk what happened. I stood at check-in the whole time. Even though I had spoken to Emmy, I still had hope that she would turn up. She didn’t though. The last call for my flight had just come through on the announcements, I had to leave. Begrudgingly, I headed to the gate where my flight was departing from. I had convinced myself that she would show. My flight took off and before I knew it, we had landed. I didn’t pay attention to anything. I was planning on how I was going to make her change her mind about us. I tried calling again as soon as I could. Voice mail again. “Hey, it’s me again. I’m just letting you know I arrived at Texas. I understand why you didn’t show, but just to let you know, this isn’t over between us. Not by a long shot. I love you. You’re the first girl I’ve ever said that too and I promise you will be the last, until we have our own daughter anyway. We’re meant to be baby, you and me forever. I’m not letting you go.” My mom was waiting for me in arrivals. I could see how excited she was, it was gonna be tough telling her that Julia wasn’t with me. She would be crushed. I saw my mom trying to look passed me, trying to get her first glimpse of my girl. When she looked back at me, I could see the disappointed reflecting off her face. She was as disappointed as I was. “Hey baby, what happened?” She asked sadly. “I don’t wanna talk about it yet mom, can we just go home?” “Sure kiddo” she said, smiling as she ruffled my hair. She was only 5,4 so she had to stand on her tiptoes to reach the top of my head. I also had to lean down. I called Julia every day. Not once did she pick up or even get back to me. I was miserable the whole time I was home, my mom did everything she could think of to cheer me up, but nothing worked. I wasn’t giving Julia up though. I could still fix it. I left my mom’s home early, hoping that I would get back in time to see Julia before classes started up again. I had booked my cab to take me straight to Julia’s. We pulled up a little while later, I grabbed my bag, paid the driver and ran to her door. “Julia! Are you home yet?” I knocked. Silence. Damn it! I walked back to my place, quietly contemplating and making plans on how to win her back. I showed up at her place every day for the next 3 days. School was due to start tomorrow and neither her nor Emmy had arrived. I was starting to worry. I was due in for my first shift back tomorrow too. The next morning, I got up and walked to the coffee shop, buying a coffee for myself and a latte for Julia. She would have to go to class, she couldn’t miss it. I remembered her telling me her first class back was Economics, so I walked to where her class would be. Mine started in an hour so I had time. I waited and waited. She didn’t show. I waited for them to finish before I left, just to make sure she didn’t arrive before me this morning. She didn’t come out, now I was late for my first class back. I ran to the next building, arriving just minutes after class started. I apologized as I went to find a seat. I couldn’t concentrate. Where the hell was she?       ***Authors note*** Poor Ryan! I hope he finds Julia and is able to explain! xoxo
