Rose(1)
I'm Kayla Williams, a sophomore in high school. I have long dark blonde hair that I love to dye. Right now, it's blue, which I love. My eyes are baby blue, but sometimes change color. I'm about five feet one. Right now, I'm just waiting for something interesting to happen.I'm chilling in my room, reading a book, and listening to tunes. I just finished reading the totally unrealistic fairytale ending of this romance novel, and I am so frustrated! How come all these girls in all these books always find their true love? It's so not real! What if some people are just destined to be alone forever, or don't even have a soulmate? I'm starting to think I'll never find my so-called soulmate. I think I need some fresh air. I'm gonna go for a walk. Maybe that will help me think more clearly. I check my phone for the time, it's finally midnight. My family should be asleep by now. I do this most nights, but nothing happens in my neighborhood. I've become confident at this point, it's become a bit of routine at this point. I lift open my window slowly. My window squeaks in protest. I climb up on the windowsill, which is only like two or three feet off the ground. I slowly drop down out of the window, landing on the ground softly. I crack my window so nobody can tell it's open. Then I sneak around the house to the front yard. When I finally make it to the street, I check to make sure no cars are driving around. Then I start casually walking down the street, pull my phone out and turn on some music, but I only put one earbud in my ear. I keep walking till I make it to the S curve on the road.
I'm walking down the street when I hear someone behind me. My heart starts pounding as I'm walking alone down the deserted street. I'm looking around, feeling anxious watching the streetlights flickering rhythmically. The only other sound is the tapping of someone's feet on the asphalt behind me. My breath catches in my throat. As I hope the person following me isn't a murderer. I put a hand to my chest to try to calm myself and act as if I don't notice them. But then the tapping of their feet suddenly picks up speed and got closer and closer. Their feet start slapping against the pavement. I refuse to die today! I whip around as fast as possible. and try to kick who or what was following me. I look up startled to see a girl with long, flowing hair as black as night. She is about my age, and her startling eyes make my heart skip a beat. The adrenaline fading from earlier. as I drink in her features. She is so beautiful that I can't take my eyes off her. I stand there, frozen in place, my heart pounding in my chest. I snap out of it, finally taking in my surroundings for an instant, and I notice that she is holding my ankle with one hand. Then my eyes are drawn to her again, her eyes are magnets drawing me in. I feel my body leaning towards her. She is like an angel or a work of art. I've never seen someone so breathtaking in my life.
My eyes start to take in the rest of her face. She has such soft porcelain skin, which seems to shimmer in the moonlight. My eyes travel down to her rosy lips. They part slowly as she asks coolly, "Why is a pretty girl like you out at a time like this?". Her voice is cool and crisp, and seems to perfectly match her face. We just stare at each other in silence for a bit too long, as if no one wants to break the silence. As if we are both lost in the moment. Her eyes soften the longer we stand there. I'm so lost that I had forgotten to answer her question. Then I answer quickly, but with an attempt of nonchalance, "Just on a walk". I toss my hair back over my shoulder. She visibly frowns., and her eyebrows furrow together as if in disappointment. She looks down, and then she says with a sigh, "Not very interesting." Her beautiful moonlight eyes look me up and down, as if she wants to commit every part of me to memory. She pauses on my eyes. The woman's gaze darkens to a seductive gaze, looking down at me through her long dark eyelashes. She body leans forward towards me as if she's telling a secret. Her voice then deepens to a mysterious tone, "You know, you might encounter some strange people under the light of the moon." She tilts her head and looks down and smirks, then looks back up at the me meeting my eyes. She runs her hand across my ankle, and her hand runs up my leg to my calf, caressing my leg so softly as if it's precious and delicate. I feel soft electricity on skin where she touches, leaving goosebumps behind. I feel heat creeping up my neck to my face. What is she doing to me? I reply breathlessly, "I...should be fine, but... I guess I will just go home. Since you think that's... a good idea.". She seems pleased with that. Her shoulders seem to visibly relax. Then she nods curtly, and her eyes darken, and she states simply, "That would be best." She swiftly releases my leg. I stumble, losing my balance. She grabs me by my waist, pulls me close to her, stopping my fall. My legs feel like jelly. My eyes find her lips as they part slowly, to say in a deep voice, "Careful, Beautiful." My knees buckle. She leans close to me, I feel her cool breath on my cheek. My eyes close as she gets closer. My body starts to burn up. I wrap my arms around her neck to gather my footing. I'm gasping breath as I feel her lips brush against my face. I can hardly stand anymore. Is she gonna kiss me? Then curiosity hits me, and I have to know, "But first, can you tell me your name?" She leans back as a smirk spreads across her soft lips. The moonlight from the full moon glistens behind her, casting shadows across her face. Her blue eyes glow as brightly as the moon behind her. It is so captivating, and I find myself self-drawn towards her.
She says a matter of factly, "I am called by many names, my real name is Amor, but you can call me Luna. What's yours?" She runs her hand across my cheek to my jaw. Our eyes meet again, my breath hitches in my throat. I reply breathlessly, "M, my name is... Kayla." She smiles, and her eyes soften, and she says confidently while she cups my face with one hand and pulls my face closer to hers, "No, I am going to call you Rose.". Luna runs her porcelain fingers through a couple strands of my blue hair as she explains, "Your soft hair looks as beautiful as a blue rose. No other name suits you." She brushes her thumb across my lower lip, then her fingertips lightly brushing the side of my face. As she slides her hand up to play with my hair, I feel my face grow hot. Feeling suddenly overwhelmed, I stutter, while backing up slowly, "I, I best be going, um... Luna. I think I'm a bit tired now. Bye.". I take off back to my house as fast as my feet will take me. I dive in through my window and jump into my bed. I try to shut my eyes, but all I can think about is that mysterious girl, Luna.
