My father glared at Vidar, asking sharply, "How do you take care of your brother? Do you even have what it takes to be a Beta?"
Vidar shielded his face, a flash of resentment flickering in his eyes. "Sorry, I didn't do enough tonight and missed what Rex needed. I hope you can forgive me."
"Alright, since Rex is fine, let's not blame anyone," my mother interjected, always quick to defend Vidar.
As I remembered my past life, when Vidar had cruelly twisted my mother's neck, I clenched my fists and coldly declared, "As the newly appointed Wolf King, I announce that from this day forward, Vidar will no longer be my assistant!"
"Alpha Rex, please forgive me!" Vidar said, panic rising in his voice. "If I've upset you in any way, I promise to change."
His words were met with a wave of strong opposition from those around us. I couldn't help but sneer inside. It was the same old tactic—trying to appear noble in front of everyone to win their favor and isolate me.
Among the growing dissent, I raised my voice, "From today on, all positions will be open for fair competition. Anyone has the chance to be the Beta!"
Instantly, the murmurs of discontent turned to cheers.
Looking at Vidar's tense face, I feigned sadness and said, "Vidar, you understand this, right? As the new Alpha, I can't show favoritism for my brother."
Vidar replied with a stiff smile, "Sure, Rex, I will support you wholeheartedly. I'll go take care of some things now." He leave with a chilling glint in his eyes.
'Vidar, didn't you once say that I was arrogant and foolish, that I could never measure up to you? Well, today I will show you that all the power you've gained was granted by me!'
'Removing your position is just the first step; soon, I will work to eliminate your influence completely!'
