That night, I couldn't sleep. Each time I closed my eyes, I was haunted by the sight of my parents in agony and the pack drenched in blood.
Everyone had been poisoned, and I was the one who had done it. It all happened because Vidar claimed it was a potion to enhance our abilities, and I trusted him without a second thought.
Then, I helplessly watched him kill our people one by one, blood soaking the tip of his knife.
"No!" I screamed. I sprinted into the depths of the forest and trained with desperation. I wouldn't let this tragedy happen again.
Early the next morning, as I returned to the pack, Valiant storming toward me, his face twisted in anger. He was the youngest warrior in the pack and a fiercely loyal supporter of Vidar.
"Alpha Rex, Beta Vidar has made great contributions to the pack over the past three years. You can't just remove him from his position!" Valiant said, clearly displeased.
I looked at him with cold indifference. "Did he send you here?"
"Beta Vidar wouldn't stoop to such things! I'm warning you, restore his position right now. Otherwise, I'll teach you a lesson!" Valiant said arrogantly, clearly viewing me as nothing but an incompetent fool.
"Get on your knees!" I commanded, my voice sharp. The aura of the Alpha surged within me and overwhelmed him.
At that moment, Valiant trembled and fell to his knees, but his eyes burned with resentment and rage as if he wanted to kill me.
I sneered. "Have I been too merciful to all of you, making you forget your place?"
With that, I kicked him hard, sending him crashing into a tree. With a thud, Valiant spat out blood.
His eyes widened in shock and the arrogance he had shown moments ago was replaced by fear.
Ignoring him, I shouted, "Audric!"
In the next moment, a powerful werewolf rushed toward me, moving with incredible speed until he stood right before me.
My friend who had been by my side since childhood warmed my heart. Ever since my parents adopted Vidar, I had grown distant from Audric.
In my past life, while all the warriors praised Vidar, Audric had repeatedly warned me to be careful. However, I dismissed him as just being jealous and pushed him away from the pack.
It was only after Audric realized I had been severed from all my limbs that he came to rescue me, only to be killed by Vidar.
Valiant gazed in disbelief, shocked that the lone wolf would actually return.
Before Valiant could say anything, Audric sneered. "How dare you! How dare you question Alpha Rex's authority!" He then kicked Valiant in the knee and punched him hard in the face.
"Stop! I dare anyone to touch him!" At that moment, Vidar stormed in with his subordinates, fury etched across his face.
