Ivy Ashford just wants a fresh start at Northridge High. New school, new beginning, and hopefully, no more drama with her ex, Gideon Cross. But things don't exactly go as planned.Nathan Swift, Northridge's arrogant soccer captain, has already decided he hates her. Why? Because Gideon is his friend, and Nathan believes Ivy is the reason he's messed up. As far as Nathan is concerned, Ivy hurt Gideon, and she's going to pay for it.So he makes it his mission to make her miserable. He embarrasses her, gets on her nerves, and takes every chance he gets to make her school life hell. But Ivy isn't the type to sit back and take his nonsense. She fights back, and before long, the two can't go five minutes without arguing. Then there's Bryan, captain of rival Riverdale High, and the one person Nathan absolutely cannot stand. The two captains hate each other, and things get ugly when Bryan steps in during a confrontation between Ivy and Gideon. One punch turns into a full-blown fight, and suddenly, BOTH captains are benched. And poor Ivy? She's stuck right in the middle of it.Things get even messier when Ivy is assigned to tutor Nathan. Spending time together forces them to see sides of each other they never expected. Nathan starts questioning what he thought he knew about Ivy, while the girl he once couldn't stand slowly becomes the one he can't stop thinking about. But Bryan is getting closer to Ivy, too, and Nathan isn't exactly thrilled about it.Between two rival captains, a possessive ex, jealousy, and secrets that could destroy old friendships, Ivy's final school year is turning into a complete mess. And just when she thinks things can't get any worse, they do.Because falling for the boy who made your life miserable? That's one problem.Figuring out what happens when two captains want the same girl? That's a whole other game.

CHAPTER 1
Ivy's POV First day at a brand new school... Finally a fresh start,a new quiet life and no more drama. I'd finally be able to focus on school and things that actually matter. I opened my empty locker and put my bag inside. I can't wait to start decorating my locker. I took one last final look at my schedule, biology, then art class and finally mathematics. The only subject I actually cared about. I shut my locker as I slowly made my way upstairs as I looked round the hallway. The hallway was filled with chattering from other students, all our uniforms looked the same but theirs was a little bit different. It's like it was designed by top designers, and the hallway was filled with too much body spray. Something that I couldn't afford even if mum worked two shifts. Mum... We only moved here recently and she was already working her butt off. I'm really glad that it's a scholarship so mum wouldn't have to worry about the fees, at least she can breathe easily. "North Ridge High, please be good to me, I just wanna graduate and move on with my life...I just hope I don't cross paths with any psychos" i whispered to myself softly. Then I heard it... Someone was laughing... But that voice sounded awfully familiar. I stopped then I wondered if it could be his voice but I shrugged the feeling off immediately. It's only been four months since I broke up with that dipshit. He moved and transferred schools a week after I broke up with him. How pathetic. What are the chances that he'd also be here. "Come on Ivy you're probably just hearing things..." Was I? I silently prayed and hoped it wouldn't be... him. Then I turned the corner and I saw him... My ex... Gideon Cross. Yay, with my luck there's no way I was gonna survive not when he was there. Why does the universe hate me so much? I bagged a scholarship to the most prestigious school in the city and this douchebag also happened to also be here? Amazing. And standing beside him was a tall handsome guy. He looked so perfect with his perfectly styled hair, his smile that would definitely melt all the girls hearts. The type of guy that would defintely get my life ruined if I made the wrong move. Just keep walking Ivy. I tried my best so none of them would actually see me but it failed miserably cause immediately I started walking faster I heard it... His stupid, corny voice that always made me cringe. "Well well well, look what the cat dragged in..." I stopped walking then slowly turned with a smile on my face. "Nice to see you too giddy boy" He scoffed. "Could you be any more pathetic...?, don't tell me you actually transferred to my school..., don't you have any self respect huh Ivy?" Then he smiled. "Or was it because you missed me?" Tch. He thinks I transferred here because of him? How dare he? I smiled sweetly and replied softly to him, "don't get your hopes up giddy boy I didn't come here because of you, ever heard of the word 'scholarship'?" Then I placed a hand on my mouth dramatically,"oh sorry I forgot, your brain's to small to understand a huge word like that." Other students stopped to watch as gasps filled the hallway. Gideon's face turned red as he clenched his fists,"you little..." But before he could finish his sentence the bell rang. I adjusted my book in my hand as I stared directly into his weird colored eyes. "Sorry giddy boy I have a class to attend." Before he could utter another word, I skipped past the both of them. "Bye now." I quickly climbed up the stairs as I felt Gideon and his friends gaze on me. I walked as fast as I could holding my books as tight as I could ask I finally reached my class. Universe...what exactly did I do to you? Why would you have to make my dumb ex boyfriend be in the same school I got a frickin scholarship. I sighed as I slowly walked up to the empty seat at the far end of the classroom. I sat down and placed my book on my table, and I looked by my side. No one sat beside me and no one bothered to say hi or anything to me. I mean I wasn't surprised or anything, friends would probably just be a distraction. That's what I told myself. It'll be better to just focus on the important things like surviving the next two years in this damn school. --- Biology class ended quicker than I expected. Then minutes later I found myself roaming around the hallway looking around. The school was ten times bigger than my old school, sport banners were everywhere on the walls and lot's of framed photographs. A huge glass trophy case was right beside the vending machine, it was filled with trophies from different sports competitions. Wow, I guess my new school has a soft spot for sports. Then the thought hit me... What if I just spend the next two years avoiding giddy boy and other crazy people who might make my life hell? Can I actually pull that off? "Of course you can Ivy", I whispered to myself, "you just gotta avoid the douchebags and life in North Ridge High won't be that bad." That was a perfect plan. It was flawless. I closed my eyes happily as I skipped down the hallway humming to myself. Then... I tripped over a foot and landed face flat on the ground. Then I heard someone laughing, it wasn't Gideon, it was someone else. Did he set his foot so I could fall down? Who'd do such a thing? I slowly looked up as the words slowly left my mouth,"ow..." Then I saw him... The same handsome guy that was standing beside Gideon earlier. He laughed even harder when he saw my face. "Oh I'm sorry are you okay?" He asked in a mocking baby voice. That's when I realized that I was screwed... big time.
