Chapter 14 “Don’t you dare die on us,” Gage said as he looked down at Ash’s pale face. “It will destroy Kegan if you do.” Ash was in a bed at an Agency-owned clinic in New Orleans, wires and tubes festooning his body. He was heavily bandaged and on a ventilator, with a chest tube as well, after having undergone surgery to remove a bullet from his chest and repair the damage it had done to his lung and ribs. Thankfully, as far a Gage and the doctors were concerned, the bullet had missed Ash’s heart and spine. Shooting Ash had been the last thing the senator had done before making his escape.
