Chapter 13

One of the gnomes here in the palace guided me to a place where wizards usually trained for martial arts. It was actually an open field which I think is a really good training ground. "Why is no one here?" I asked him when I saw that no single wizard was in that field. "Master Jed asked the wizards not to come here today for training so you can have the field all by yourself. It is for you to feel comfortable." He's right. I still feel uncomfortable in this place, in this world. But what can I do? This is the place where I belong to and there's nothing I can do about that. "You can wait here, your highness. Sir Kyle will be here in a moment," he said, and left me there alone. After my training with Master Jed yesterday, I locked myself in a library to look for a book regarding the water element. A book may not teach me how my magic would work, but at least I will be able to understand that element. Seems like Kyle is taking so long. I sighed and closed my eyes. I took a deep breath and started to move my hands and torso just like what I read in the book I read from the library yesterday. "Practicing magic on your own is really dangerous." I was startled when someone spoke out of nowhere. When I opened my eyes and looked for that person, I saw Kyle standing in front of me, holding a ball of water. "W-what-" "You may not have realized it, but this water almost hit me," he said. He waved his hand holding out the water and it just disappeared. "I already told you yesterday, practicing magic on your own is really dangerous for someone like you who can't even control it." "My magic worked?" I asked him with a small smile on my lips and ignoring his comment. But Kyle ignored my question and he looked so pissed. "I'm sorry," I told him and bowed my head. "I heard what happened yesterday," he said. "You should remember what you did today. You already managed to collect the water surrounding this place. Doing that again in the waterzone would be much easier now." I lifted my head and smiled because he was right. "Don't give me that face. We're not here today, so I can lecture you how to control water. We're here to train you in martial arts." I frowned. "I already know how to do martial arts," I told him but he just smirked at me. "Try me," he said. "Attacked me. If you can land a blow, we will stop this training and I will teach you anything I know about controlling the water element. But if you can't land a single blow, we will start your martial arts training." "Alrgiht. But you are not allowed to use magic," I told him and he nodded as an agreement. I started to walk in circles around him and think about how I should attack him. I tried to land a punch on him but he is so quick to stop me by holding my fist. I tried to kick him but in a blink of an eye, he was already behind me holding both my hands behind my back. "Nice move princess. Seems like you already got the basics," he said and let me go. "But you still have a lot to learn." "We're not done yet," I said, and tried to attack him again. I use every technique I have mastered. Every move that my father taught me, but all of it is useless. I was already out of breath but I still couldn't land a single attack on him. And its frustrating that he is still standing in the same spot since he came here. "For a mortal, a normal person, you are good. And I know you can defeat a normal person easily. But you should know, Shanel, your opponents here are not mortals nor normal people. They are powerful wizards and creatures." I bit my lip because of the frustration I am feeling. "I know you already know martial arts. You already know how to defeat a normal person. But you are here today to learn how to defeat a wizard, a creature." I sighed. "Alright," I said, sounding defeated. "Teach me." I saw him smiling at me. That's why I look away. - "We're leaving?' I asked Kyle. After I asked him to teach me, he told me that we could start tomorrow because I'm already exhausted. I thought he would let me go back to my room, but then he asked me to follow him. "Is it okay to leave?" I asked him when he gave me a coat. "Yeah. As long as we remain in the Terrae Kingdom territory." I didn't say anything again and just followed him. We went to the part of the palace where, according to Kyle, is where they usually practice magic and also practice how to fly using a magic broom. "Zairen," he called out and out of nowhere, the garden gnome suddenly appeared in front of Kyle. "Yes, Master," he said with a salute. He opened his mouth and my eyes widened when he inserted his hand into his mouth and spit out a broom. "How the hell did that fit inside you?! Also, don't you have a digested system?!" I asked in horror. He just laughed at me as well as Kyle. "Don't mind Zairen. He does have a digestive system," he said, and I frowned at him. "Lets go?" I looked at him. He is already riding the broom and waiting for me. "I'm not riding that thing." I'm afraid, alright. I kinda feel that I might fall anytime. Also, I don't know how to fly. They have not taught me how to fly yet, so I will surely die once I fall from that thing. "You sure? It's actually fun riding this. It's one of my favorites for being a wizard," he said, and flew around me. I rolled my eyes. "Come on. It's fun, I promise," he said while smiling at me. "I won't let you fall," he added while looking at me in the eye and for some reason, my heart started to beat faster. I blinked a few times. He suddenly held my hand and tugged me so I could ride the broom as well. He is in front of me and I couldn't help myself to hold on to him so tight when he started to fly the broom higher. "You should open your eyes so you can see how beautiful the view is," he said, sensing my eyes were closed. He is right, so I did open my eyes carefully and my breath was taken away. It was beyond beautiful. "That's the whole Terrae Kingdom. Too bad we couldn't go farther from here. But the other kingdoms are as beautiful as Terrae before." "Before?" I asked him. "Yeah. Before the dark wizard ruined everything," he answered. I was silent. We flew for a couple of minutes until we landed inside a forest, in front of what looked like a cave. "Is that a cave?" I asked him. "Yeah. This is where I usually practice my skills. Inside of that cave is a lake where you can practice water element." "And you said it's dangerous to practice magic alone," I told him. "I did. But you're not alone because I'm here," he said and smirked. He held my hand again as we walked inside that cave while my heart started beating faster again. Is it because we are about to enter nowhere or is it because Kyle is still holding my hand? --
