Reveal
(Jay’s POV)
Relief flooded through me as I held Amara, feeling her warmth and knowing she was safe. I looked down at Zara, her life slipping away as she lay on the floor. She had caused so much pain, but now it was finally ending.
“Keith,” I called out, knowing he was just outside. “Get in here.”
Keith burst into the room, his eyes widening as he took in the scene. “What happened?”
“Zara’s been shot,” I said, still holding Amara close.
Keith nodded, calling for medical assistance as he moved to secure Zara. I turned back to Amara, gently cupping her face in my hands.
“Are you hurt?” I asked, my voice soft.
She shook her head, tears filling her eyes. “No, just scared. I thought… I thought she was going to kill me.”
“I won’t let anything happen to you,” I promis
