Together
(Amara’s POV)
I screamed.
The nightmare clung to me as I woke with a start, my heart pounding in my chest.
The room was dark, and for a moment, I was back in that cold, suffocating cabin.
Panic surged through me, and I struggled to catch my breath.
“Amara!” Jay’s voice broke through the haze, and he rushed into the room, his face etched with concern. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close. “It’s okay. You’re safe. I’m here.”
I buried my face in his chest.
He stroked my hair. “You’re safe now. I’m right here with you.”
We stayed like that for a while, his presence calming the storm inside me. Gradually, my breathing steadied, and the terror began to fade.
“I’m sorry,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. “I’m just so scared.”
