Chapter 1
Jack’s POV I can't believe I’ve been coming to this same coffee shop for the past six months. “Back again to wait for Mrs. Mysterious?” Ben, the owner, asked with a teasing grin as he wiped down the counter. “Yes, Ben,” I replied with a small smile. He and his staff had become unexpected allies in my quiet mission—tracking down the woman who’d haunted my thoughts since the day I first saw her here. You’re probably wondering who Mrs. Mysterious is. Well, she’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. She walked into this café six months ago, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about her since. Every day, I come here hoping today will be the day. Crazy? Maybe. But I’ve always been the king of doing crazy things for what I want. I’m Jack Christopher. Thirty. CEO of Topher Enterprises. Only child. Still very much single. The bell above the café door jingled. I looked up—and nearly dropped my coffee. It was her. Gina’s POV This might just be the worst day of my life. First, I got kicked out of my apartment. Then I lost my job. And now, my phone battery is dead, and my mother’s last words to me are echoing in my head like a curse: “Maybe you just weren’t meant for anything good.” Harsh, right? And yet… one of the kindest things she’s ever said to me. I pushed open the door to a coffee shop, desperate for something warm and comforting. Coffee. That’s all I need right now. Something simple. Reliable. “One cappuccino, please,” I murmured to the barista. Three minutes later, I took my cup and turned to leave—only to slam straight into a solid wall of muscle. “Ouch!” I yelped, coffee sloshing dangerously. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to—” came a deep, concerned voice. I looked up, ready to snap. “Are you stu—” The words died on my tongue. I had never seen eyes that beautiful in my entire life.
