Kai Was Chosen.
Kai was still trying to understand what he had discovered at the sealed chamber—the faint noise coming from behind the door, the strange reaction of the symbol whenever he touched it, and the memories from his childhood that had suddenly begun to return. For years, he had experienced strange nightmares, always seeing the same mysterious symbol in his dreams. Now, standing before the sealed chamber, he began to wonder if those dreams were not dreams at all, but memories of something he had forgotten.
Kai began to realize that his grandfather had known more about him than he had ever revealed. He had chosen to keep the truth hidden because of the way Kai’s father died. Afraid of losing his only grandchild, he believed that keeping Kai away from the truth would keep him safe.
But the symbol Kai had carried since childhood was connected to the ancient temple. It was not a simple mark—it was part of a mystery that had followed his family for generations. The mysterious sword seemed to recognize Kai, suggesting that his family had a deeper connection to it than he had ever imagined.
And then there was the stranger. Somehow, he already knew who Kai was
Kai stepped into the ancient chamber and saw the sword lying within it. He did not reach for it immediately. There was something about the weapon that made him hesitate.
As he moved closer, the symbol carved into the wall suddenly began to glow. The air inside the chamber changed, and Kai felt as though something ancient had awakened in his presence.
He reached toward the sword, but before his hand could fully touch it, the sword reacted to him. It was almost as if it recognized him.
Kai stood frozen. He had lived his entire life as a young hunter, believing his life was simple and ordinary. Now, standing before the mysterious sword, he realized that everything he thought he knew about himself might have been a lie.
Why me? He wondered. What does this have to do with my grandfather?
Then he remembered something his grandfather had once told him:
“When the mountains call you, do not ignore them.”
Kai had never understood what those words meant. Until now.
He had not come looking for the sword.
The sword had chosen him.
Long before Kingston existed, an ancient guardian created the sword to protect the kingdom from a powerful ancient force. It was never an ordinary weapon. The sword was created to recognize a particular bloodline, and only someone connected to the original guardians could truly awaken its power.
But over time, the sword became dangerous. People began seeking it for their own selfish reasons, believing its power could give them control and influence. The struggle for the sword brought destruction, anarchy, and suffering to the kingdom.
The previous guardian was eventually corrupted by the power he was meant to protect. Instead of using the sword to protect others, he used it for his own purposes. The consequences were devastating.
After the destruction, the sword was sealed away inside the ancient temple. The remaining guardians believed it should never be used again—unless the right person appeared.
Generations passed, and the guardians' history slowly faded into legend.
But Kai was descended from the original guardians.
The sword did not choose him simply because of his bloodline. It recognized something more important in him—the courage, selflessness, and willingness to protect others that the previous guardian had lacked.
Kai had not been searching for the sword. The sword had been waiting for Kai.
Kai discovered that the previous guardian had disappeared after misusing the sword. The destruction that followed was so great that everyone believed the guardian had died. Afterward, the sword was sealed away, hidden from the world until the right person appeared.
Now, standing before the ancient weapon, Kai began to understand why he had been brought there. The sword had chosen him—not only because he carried the bloodline of the original guardians, but because of the person he had become. His courage, selflessness, and willingness to protect others were qualities the previous guardian had lost.
For the first time, Kai began to wonder if his grandfather had known that this day would come.
Kai finally reached for the sword. The moment his hand closed around the hilt, a deep rumble shook the chamber.
The ground beneath his feet began to tremble. Dust fell from the ancient walls as cracks appeared across the stone.
Kai stepped back, gripping the sword tightly.
Then he heard it.
The sealed door began to move.
Slowly, the massive stone door opened, revealing a darkness that had been hidden for generations.
Kai stared into the darkness, his heart pounding.
He had come to the mountain searching for answers.
Instead, he had awakened something that had been waiting for him.
