CHAPTER THREE

1009 Words
I remained quiet while sitting in the dining area. Told you, sooner or later he’ll figure it out, Dan said I took a deep breath I know but I didn’t expect it to be this soon. Well. On the brighter side, he might not recognize you. I mean he practically doesn’t know that you two had a son, right? So, you know he might just think that it’s a coincidence. I rolled my eyes at her. For a minute we were both quiet. Dan stood up. You know what instead of us doing this brainstorming or whatever. Let’s just go clubbing. She picked up her purse. I can’t I firmly said but of course, Dan is known to be very persuasive so we ended up in the famous nightclub in the uptown, Flickering lights are all over the place, and the smell of smoke and alcohol is mixed. I looked around and saw some people who remained at their place with a glass center table and a bucket of beer and champagne. Dan practically had to hold my hand and drag me to the second floor of the club. It was more spacious. I think this is the VIP floor. I’m not a fan anymore of parties and alcohol since I had Nathaniel. The smell of the place made me realize how long I hadn’t been in this kind of place. I’ll order for us, Dan said and stood up I patiently waited for her and decided to look down on my seat. Sweat bodies can be seen grinding on each other on the dance floor, people are actively dancing. Uninterested I looked around at the people on the same floor and my eyes immediately widened when I saw him. He’s on the second floor too holding a glass of alcoholic beverage. He was looking downstairs at the people dancing. I was panicked, but then I realized I didn’t have to. Nathaniel isn’t here with me and Dan is right. Why would he think Nathaniel is his son? So, I remained seated in our place, patiently waiting for Dan. Here’s our drinks, Dan said and the waiter placed the drinks on our tables I was about to reach for one when suddenly a strong hand reached out and grabbed my wrist, stopping me. What I said, glancing at the guy who stood right in front of me. It was Nathan and his deep eyes were fixed straight on me. Let me go Stand up. He commanded emphatically. I tried to pull my hand back but he wouldn’t let go I looked at Dan but she remained quiet and was just watching us. I didn’t stand up. It looks like he never changed at all. He still feels like he owns the world, still very commanding. Do you need something from me, sir? I asked. He smirked. Yes, we have personal business to deal with. He confidently stated. I gulped. I don’t think so. I formally said. But he didn’t leave, his sharp eyes almost piercing me. Another one-night stand at the bar, is it? If you want to fool around with men that badly, I can satisfy you he said icily… How dare you? I brushed off his hand and stormed out of the club angrily with Dan following me. I woke up without a single memory of last night after I met Nathan in my head. Only at a vague recollection that Nathan had humiliated me with his aggressive language. What an awful devil. Despite the hangover, I still went to the office. That is why I hate drinking; the hangover headache is a nightmare. I had to finish all my pending papers, so I could pass my resignation letter as soon as possible. This is a serious matter since Nathan got a glimpse of Nathaniel and the fact that he is the CEO of this company. I need to finish this immediately. The hallway was crowded but I had to focus on my schedule; I went straight to my office and started reading and revising all the paperwork. I heard a door click, so I assumed it was Dan. Dan, if you’re here to interrupt me. Please leave, I have to finish all of this. I said without looking up. She didn’t respond, so I had to look up, and my eyes met someone else. It was Nathan’s secretary. She smiled at me, Mr. Nathan wants to see you at his office. I remained quiet. Asap. She stated. I came back to my senses and followed her. You may go inside Miss Bella. The CEO is waiting for you. She then left me at the two big doors. I opened the door and my eyes landed on Nathan who was comfortably sitting in his swivel chair. His desk was neat, files were compiled properly. he didn’t show any expression I remained standing. Good morning, sir, you wanted to see me? I asked confidently wearing his luxury tuxedo he looked like he just stepped out of a fashion magazine, it's not like am checking him out anyway… He then looked at me with piercing eyes and asked. Who was the boy with you yesterday? No words came out from me, I couldn’t speak. He might have an idea now. I cursed in my mind. He is my son. I said as I cleared my throat to stop myself from stuttering. His eyes wandered around first before he loosened his necktie. Your son you say? Who’s the father of this child? His bored eyes landed on me, looking at me intently. I cleared my throat he’s dead. He laughed and nodded his head slightly. It looks like we need to migrate to another country, I need my son far away from this man. Nathan is a billionaire he has connections everywhere, in a snap of his fingers he could get my son away from me. Nathan threw a brown envelope at me. Read it aloud. I opened the envelope, my eyes widened as soon as I saw the paper.
