Susan was doing her female mind meld thing with the clothes washing machine. While Susan did the wash, Barney stood sentry duty, ensuring the safety of the female third of the pack. Susan and John had not discussed the living arrangements. They had not even discussed the sort of relationship that they might have initiated. It seemed to be unfolding itself.
John had just about decided that today should be a 'Me' day, forgetting the responsibilities of the Resistance for just one 24-hour period. He considered it likely that the universe could deal with a short time-out on the emergency states.
John should have paid more attention to the line of crows on the power line on the nearby roadside. They would have let him know that the world would not be leaving him alone this day.
