Prologue

“Do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting for this moment?” he asked with his usual deep voice. Demanding and intimidating.
I liked his voice…once. Now, not just his voice but also…Ricardo himself. I hated his voice. And I hated him.
“Ricardo, no. Don’t come any closer.” How I hoped he would understand. Couldn’t he get it? Did he realize that I don’t want him anymore? Not after what happened between us. Why he came back? Was he going to hurt me again? Just like what he did four years ago?
“Are you scared of me now, Kitty Cat?” he asked while striding his long legs toward me. His signature sly smile attached to his handsome face. Damn how I hate that smile too.
“Don’t call me that.”
Kitty Cat. The nickname Ricardo gave to me ever since we were young. At that time, to Ricardo, I was his only kitten. His only girl, as he claimed. My stomach was always full of butterflies every time he called me that. Not anymore.
“Why?” The nerves!
His steps continued toward me. His sharp brown eyes kept staring at me. Not even once looking away. Looking like a predator had set up its prey – me. No, I would not let myself be hypnotized by his beautiful eyes anymore. I’d changed. I was not a child anymore.
“Stop, Ricardo. What do you want now?” I asked and he grinned. Looking like he was mocking me. Like I just let out a question that was unbearably funny to him. Or even worse, stupid.
And before I noticed it, with his quick steps, he stood right in front of me. Grabbing my arm strongly, he closed his handsome to me. Not even giving me the chance to run. His face was too close. He was going to kiss me! I shut off my eyes immediately. Smelling his smoky scent. The warm lavender scent entered my nostrils. He still loved that scent. Said it reminded him of me.
Nothing came.
He didn’t do anything.
I knew he was still close because I could listen to his breath.
Slowly opening my eyes, I found him just staring at me.
He smirked. “Do you think I will kiss you, Kitty Cat?” Oh, f**k. Damn him. He was playing me. “You asked me, what do I want, right? The answer is very simple, Cat. You. I only want you.”
“What?”
“Damn, woman. Those crystal-like blue eyes. Your cute nose. Pouty pink lips. Smooth and silky brown hair. Everything of you. Every inch of you…is mine.” And like he was keeping his promise, he captured my lips and forcefully kissed me. Meeting my tongue.
Wow, he’s good. My mind screamed.
No, Cathy! I couldn’t do this! I had to push him. Reject him. Anything. I needed to prove to him that he couldn’t play with me anymore. Even though I knew him for so long. How kind he was to me before. They didn’t matter anymore when he destroyed my heart singlehandedly like that.
“No!” I pushed his chest. Seeing him shocked with my action. And anger too. He was angry at me? Why? Because he couldn’t tame me anymore? What an asshole. “You jerk! You think you can do anything you want with me?”
“Isn’t it obvious? You are mine, Cathy.” If he thought I would be happy with his claim, he could think again. His words only increased the anger inside of him and I was so ready to explode. Who does he think he is?
“I do not belong to anybody and most importantly, I’m not yours!”
“That’s where you’re wrong, Kitty Cat. You are mine since long ago,” he scoffed. “It seems I need to make you understand that.” Directing his eyes back to me again, I was being held prisoner instantly. He took my forearm and pulled me to him.
Ricardo’s words that day would probably change my relationship with him. To make it harder for me to forget about him.
I knew him.
Even though we were separated, Ricardo remained the same.
What Ricardo had promised, he would keep it.
What Ricardo had said, he would do it.
And what Ricardo desired, he would have it no matter what. And that…made my body tremble in fear.
“Prepare yourself, Kitty Cat. Because this time, you can’t run away from me.”
