Chapter 2: A Small Individual
Charles never went back to the villa on the hill since the day he got bit by Rebecca.
However, he still has romantic relationships.
In Los Angeles, he has all but taken over the gossip page. There have been reports of his love affairs almost daily - tomorrow with that socialite, today with this young model. In other words, he does not need anyone's worry and just enjoys himself carefree.
His father is returning tomorrow from a medical trip overseas. The Hall family is all quite busy as a result.
"Will my brother be returning today, Mom?" A small, pallid smile appeared on Robert Hall's face. His cheery, naive appearance made Rebecca feel sorry for him.
Charles Hall is eighteen years old, and Robert Hall is eight years old. Charles's father had some teenage transgressions with an unknown starlet, which led to the birth of him. Later on, the actress found out she had cancer and was unable to raise Robert; as a result, she sent him back to the Hall family.
Reportedly, Charles's mother experienced despair as a result of her inability to accept this reality. She leaped from the building in front of him because she could no longer take it.
Robert was three years old and Charles was twenty-one years old that year.
That was half a decade ago.
In that same year, Rebecca had recently started dating Charles; a year later, she unintentionally became his stepmother.
Life may be erratic.
Despite his challenging life, Robert is resilient and endearing to others.
He had significant anaemia shortly after birth, according to the diagnosis. His mother toiled day and night to preserve the child, and as a result of her overwork, she eventually developed cancer.cancer.
With a smile and lifted eyebrows, Rebecca gave him a tender shoulder embrace and patted his small face. "Robert, why do you miss your brother? He does not treat you well."
After pouting and pausing to consider, he said, "To whom is my brother good? Even though he does not treat you well, you keep drawing his picture."
For an instant, Rebecca's smile froze, and she covered his small mouth while muttering, "Good boy," in a voice that only the two of them could hear. You have to keep this a secret from everyone at all times. Please, keep it a secret."
He did not comprehend, but he dutifully nodded and said, "Do not worry, Mom. I will keep it a secret. Only the two of us are aware of this secret."
She gave him a soothing head rub while grinning pleasantly.
Charles just so happened to catch the end of their whispered exchange. He assumed they must be talking about him behind his back and making negative remarks about him.
He reminded the two nearby with a cough. He continued to look at them with contempt and disgust, as if they were trash. His attitude remained icy and distant.
Rebecca was accustomed to it already, but Robert was a little confused.
He had no idea what it was that had caused his brother to hate him so much.
He felt sad and wanted to cry every time he saw his brother's soulless, icy eyes.
Robert hung his head low, clearly upset. After silently consoling him with a touch on the shoulder, Rebecca cast a sidelong glance at the woman standing next to Charles, raising her eyebrows a little.
Her appearance and manner were somewhat similar to that of this woman.
Instead of the attractive woman he had brought back, she appeared to be a sweet and vulnerable young woman who was probably eighteen or nineteen years old.
Rebecca suddenly remembered herself from five years ago when she saw her.
Enchanting, beautiful, and extraordinarily pure—just like her.
"Permit me to present her. "Her name is Clara Presley, and she is the family's youngest daughter," Charles remarked. Then he approached her and put an adoring hand around her waist. The sweet young woman next to him blushed and turned to face him, but his eyes were full of love.
They were merely looking at each other, yet they understood each other.
Rebecca looked down, flashing a quick smile that belied the bitter expression on her face.
However, it lasted only a moment before she went back to being the same person and showed no signs of abnormal behaviour.beyond the norm.
Set up
Of course, she got to her feet to meet them as the lady of the Hall household. She was unaware of Clara Presley's identity, but the Presley surname was quite uncommon in Los Angeles. There were no other families in the city except the powerful Presley family in the north.
Rebecca caught Clara's attention as well, and she gave her a startled, critical glance. Because of her excellent upbringing, Maira saw Rebecca approach with initiative and learned to watch people while remaining modest and courteous. She approached her as well, assuming that she was the one who had become the mistress of the Hall family after relying on Charles to help her rise to power.
She did not exhibit the extreme disdain that was inside of her.
She opened her mouth to say something, but Charles cut her off abruptly, "Just someone inconsequential. Come with me into the living room. You enjoy a certain wine."
