Chapter 3.

Rebecca remained motionless, staring at the two people awkwardly. Though visually appealing, the juxtaposition of a stunning woman and an attractive man broke her heart. With a sour smile, she staggered. It turned out that he regarded her as merely a nonentity. That makes sense, then. She was going to be his lifelong stranger since the day she laid naked next to his father four years ago. At ten of the clock the following morning, a convoy of black executive vehicles made their way gently into the Hall Mansion. With two slaves to assist him, Josh Hall sat in a wheelchair that was custom-made. He maintained the same serious and icy demeanour. He was greying at the temples and well over fifty years old, but he still looked majestic and dignified. His face was attractive, carrying with it the air of a strong leader and a hint of his earlier grace and elegance. Everyone in the city knew Josh for his reputation. The wealthiest family in the city was likewise the Hall family. Their family-run company operated in several industries across the nation. They were deserving of the title of richest people in the nation, if not the city. Robert was a bit scared upon seeing his father, who was quite strict and elderly, when Rebecca arrived early in front of the Hall Mansion while holding his hand. His eyes were uncertain as he drew back behind Rebecca. "Good child, he is your dad, go and call him," she reassured him. touched Robert's small face softly, causing his pale lips to slightly curve. His body was gradually deteriorating due to illness, his complexion was really terrible, and his grin was forced. He calmly said, "You raised him well, thank you for your hard work," as he glanced up at Rebecca. With a knowing smile, she said, "It is my responsibility, not hard at all," in a humble and courteous manner. He gave a nod. He still had no expression on his face, but he still thought highly of Rebecca, his "young wife." "Aw, what a peaceful family." The sluggish and malevolent voice reverberated around the large living room, casting a ring of contemptuous tones. Charles was late, yet he carried himself casually and elegantly, clinging to Clara's waist. His eyes were blatantly filled with contempt and conceit. Josh was beyond his regard, much less Rebecca and Robert. Rebecca spun around and stared at Clara Presley's red face.Clara spent the night at the Hall Mansion, constantly by Charles's side. It is possible they have already had s*x. Rebecca closed her eyes and grinned, hiding the resentment and self-control she was feeling right now. Unintentionally, Charles turned to peek at her slightly turned lips. His hand clinched instinctively. "This is Clara Presley, your prospective daughter-in-law, my girlfriend," said the father. His eyes were tight and hard, even though he had a cheerful smile and was conversing in a lighthearted manner. Facing this fateful couple, Rebecca shoved Josh into the main hall. With his brows wrinkled, Josh cast a harsh glance at Clara before stating, "I can not regulate your romantic affairs." Allow Rebecca to assist in making the decision on the daughter-in-law. She is, after all, the mistress of this Hall Mansion and an elder. Of course, Rebecca, we ought to get her opinion. For a little while, Rebecca was astonished and unable to react. In addition to being an obvious show of dominance, Josh's words served as a gentle reminder to both her and Charles that their relationship was akin to a mountain and sea—and that, deeper down, this might have been a test for Rebecca. "Miss Presley strikes me as being kind, sophisticated, and a member of the Presley family. He is the ideal partner for her. How do you feel?" She did not seem to object, implicitly. What opinion could she possibly have, anyway? Did she have the right to refuse in this family? Not at all! Josh appeared to nod in agreement, and Clara timidly took Charles by the shirttail. "Hello, Mr. Hall," she said tremblingly. "Good day, Mrs. Hall!"She stopped speaking in the middle of her sentence, presumably finding it awkward to address a person who was not that much older than her as a senior. They quickly reached a resolution. After a few days, everyone was in complete shock to learn that Charles Hall had started seeing Clara Presley and had even introduced her to his parents. While some were content, others were concerned. Naturally, the Presley family was thrilled, but the girls who looked up to Charles were worried. Everyone's heart was broken when such a fine bachelor was so easily captivated.
