Chapter 5: The Safe House As Elijah approached the stranger, Alessia could see the tension in his body. He was ready to defend her at a moment's notice. The stranger didn't flinch, even as Elijah's eyes seemed to bore into his soul. "My name is Lucas," he said, his voice low and smooth. "And I've been sent to escort you to a safe house." Alessia's heart was racing as she stepped forward, her eyes locked on Lucas. "A safe house?" she repeated. Lucas nodded, his eyes flicking to Elijah. "Yes," he said. "A place where you'll be protected from those who seek to harm you." Elijah's eyes narrowed, his face tense with concern. "Who sent you?" he growled. Lucas hesitated, and for a moment, Alessia thought she saw a flicker of fear in his eyes. "I'm not at liberty to say," he said finally. Elijah's face darkened, and he took a step forward, his fists clenched. "Tell me," he snarled. Lucas didn't flinch, even as Elijah's anger seemed to wash over him. "I'll tell you nothing," he said. "But I'll take you to the safe house. That's all I can do." Alessia felt a sense of unease wash over her. Could she trust Lucas? Or was he just trying to manipulate her? Elijah's eyes locked onto hers, and Alessia saw a flicker of reassurance there. "We'll go with him," he said. "For now." And with that, Lucas turned and led them away from the hospital, into the unknown. As they walked, Alessia couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. She kept looking over her shoulder, expecting to see someone lurking in the shadows. Elijah seemed to sense her unease, and he put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We're safe," he said. "For now." Alessia nodded, trying to believe him. But as they walked, she couldn't shake the feeling that they were being pulled into a world of danger and deception. Finally, after what felt like hours of walking, Lucas stopped in front of a nondescript building. "This is the safe house," he said. "You'll be protected here." Alessia's heart was racing as she stepped forward, her eyes locked on the building. Was this really a safe house? Or was it just a trap? Elijah's eyes locked onto hers, and Alessia saw a flicker of reassurance there. "We'll be okay," he said. "I promise." And with that, Lucas pushed open the door and gestured for them to enter. Alessia hesitated, unsure of what to do. But Elijah's reassuring presence seemed to give her the courage to step forward. As they entered the building, Alessia felt a sense of trepidation wash over her. What lay ahead? And who would be waiting for her in the shadows? As they entered the building, Alessia saw a figure standing in the shadows. He was tall and imposing, with eyes that seemed to bore into her soul. "Welcome, Alessia," he said, his voice low and smooth. "I've been expecting you." Alessia's heart was racing as she stepped forward, her eyes locked on the stranger. "Who are you?" she demanded. The stranger smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "My name is Alexander," he said. "And I'm here to help you uncover the truth about your past." Alessia felt a sense of unease wash over her. What did Alexander mean? And what truth was he talking about? Elijah's eyes narrowed, his face tense with concern. "What do you know about Alessia's past?" he growled. Alexander smiled again, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I know everything," he said. "And I'm willing to share it with you... for a price." Alessia's heart was racing as she looked at Elijah, her eyes locked on his.
