Introduction and Prologue
Prologue.
Chaos, Order, Life, and Death. The world is a cycle. What you choose to do with that cycle will always be the defining moment of your existence.
It's dark, peaceful, and quiet on the streets of Prague at twilight. A young couple is walking down the cobblestone street hand in hand after a night at the club. The man is a blonde with eyes the color of the afternoon sky, wearing black jeans and a black v-neck t-shirt that perfectly hugs his chiseled body. The woman has beautiful red hair and green eyes and is wearing a pink dress that caresses her curves, with a jacket over her shoulders.
Piercing the tranquility is an echoing growl through the darkness. The woman starts panting with fear. The man lightly touches her cheek, turning her face towards him. He places both palms on each side of her face, staring into her eyes. The woman’s eyes widen like he’s peering into her soul.
His eyes glow slightly red as he says, “ Everything is fine, and you have nothing to fear.”
She smiles lightly, blinks, and says, “ Everything is fine; I have nothing to fear,” they continue walking.
They turn towards the left down an unlit alleyway. His eyes glow red again as he grabs the woman and backs her against the wall.
Looking into her eyes, he says, “ You want this. You will not make a sound.”
The woman stands there perfectly still, her back pressed against the wall. The man is pressed against her. His right leg between hers, keeping her from moving or falling. He draws his right index finger, placing it on her chin and turning her head to the left, exposing her neck. He glares down at the pulsing blood in her neck with those glowing red eyes, and a low grovel growl comes from deep in his throat. As his mouth slightly opens to reveal his fangs as he licks his lips.
“ Yeah, so that’s gonna be about enough of that.” Says a man in the shadow.
“ P*ss off, whoever you are, unless you want to be next,” the vampire hisses as he turns his attention back to the woman he's going to make his prey.
“Shink,” a sword slams through the side of the vampire's head, pinning him to the brick wall, seething with rage. The man steps out of the shadow, wearing a cloak. He pulls a wooden stake out and, with a quickness unseen by the vampire, nonchalantly throws the stake into the vampire's heart. The vampire disintegrates into ashes and blows away, ceasing to exist.
“ I said that was enough of that,” the cloaked man grumbles before pulling his katana from the brick wall and sheathing it.
He turns to the woman still standing against the wall, not moving, and his eyes glow red. He looks into her eyes and says,
“ You didn't feel well at the club, so you walked quickly home, as it's unsafe to be alone.”
She blinks and starts walking quickly down the alley towards her house.
