Midnight’s POV
“I just had four babies. I don’t even know if I can walk let alone fight,” I tell her.
Selene comes over to me and puts her hands on my lower stomach precariously close to my v****a. She closes her eyes and my body is filled with warmth and light. As a female tribrid I can heal others easily but healing myself is more difficult. When she’s done I feel amazing.
“I must go, my child. I fulfilled my purpose for coming and unfortunately I cannot help you fight,” Selene says. “I have blessed each of your sons with a special ability. Take care of them and know I love you.”
Selene disappears in a flash of white light. I get up and look down at the dress I was wearing. I can’t fight in this. After handing the baby to Boston I snap my fingers and conjure my favorite fighting outfit. Tight black cargo pants, with a black leotard underneath, and of course my black combat boots. I tie my hair in a high ponytail and I’m ready to go.
“I want you tree to seal yourselves in this room with the babies. There are bottles in the bag ready to go. I will go out and see who is trying to break in,” I look over at my husbands and sons. “You all will come with me.”
“I can fight too,” Mikayla says.
“What?!” Boston and Connor yell.
“I’ve been fighting longer than you’ve both been alive. I can help,” she says.
“That’s great actually,” I tell her.
“Mom you can’t be serious,” Connor says.
“She will not be fighting with us. She’s going to stay here and protect your brothers and sister. I need someone I can trust to keep them and the aunts safe,” I look at Mikayla. “If anything happens to us. Get them back home to my parents. They will raise and train them.”
“Let’s go,” I say to everyone else, leaving no room for discussion.
Everyone places the babies they’re holding into the large cradle in the room and heads outside. I go over to the cradle and look down at my babies. Olexa is in the middle surrounded by her three big brothers. They’re huge compared to her. The boys have wiggled so that each of them is touching her even if that means that Olexa’s legs are laying over Lucian’s belly. She sleeps while the others look at her. They’ve only just been born and they’re already so protective of her.
“I’ll be back soon, my babies,” I tell them.
“Midnight, you have to go. I can feel the barrier weakening. My people are dying to protect this place,” Sukie says.
I nod to her and join my family outside.
“We’re ready mom,” Elijah says.
We all head to the barrier entrance and I can already smell the rogues.
“Let’s do this,” Greyson says.
“No one is hurting my baby siblings,” Frederick says. He has this evil glint in his eyes I only see when he tears rogues to pieces. Out of all my children he is the most lethal. He started training earlier than all the rest. I’d have to drag him from the training field kicking and screaming as a child. He begged the Moon Goddess to give him his wolf early so that he could train with his fathers. He killed his first rogue at age ten when a few of them made it past the patrols. He used a silver dagger he found in my office. He burned his hand but didn’t seem to care at the time.
We run to aid the witches protecting the entrance to Salem.
“Get inside!” I command. They nod and run inside sealing the gates behind them. There are probably fifty rogues here and only myself, my two husbands, and six of my boys.
The rogues are hiding in the tree line. I can see a few dark witches chanting and the barrier begins to crack.
“Attack!” I yell. “Go for the casters first. We have to take them out before the barrier breaks.”
Everyone begins running towards the tree line. Rogues shift and charge us in wolf form. My sons shift and begin tearing them apart one after another. I use my magic to re-enforce the barrier. I heard someone yelp and I see Drake being attacked by four rogues. He looks like he’s in so much pain but he’s not fighting back. I see a witch near him chanting.
“Kill that b***h!” I yell to Andrei.
He takes off towards the witch and I get to Drake. I use my powers to freeze all four rogues. Extending my claws I tear out each of their throats. Drake has bite marks all over him and a really bad wound on his stomach.
“Shift,” I command.
Drake shifts back to human form and I conjure him some shorts. I place my hands over his wound and start healing him. Another rogue comes towards me so I use my elemental powers to form a fire circle around us and he burns up before he can get to us. The wound is healing too slow which means he was poisoned. I close my eyes and squeeze the wound making him scream in pain.
“I’m sorry baby. It’ll be over soon," I reassure him.
“There was something on his claws. It’s burning!” He yells.
I focus on his blood using my powers to find any traces of poisoned blood to pull it from his body.
My family teleports into the circle, “It’s done.” I nod dropping the fire ring.
“Ahhh!” Drake yells.
“Hold him down!” I command.
Shawn and Andrei kneel by Drake and hold down his shoulders and legs.
“It’s ok son. We’re here,” Shawn says.
I slowly pull the poisoned blood from Drake’s body and when it pours out of the wound it oozes bright green liquid.
“What the hell is that stuff?” Greyson asks.
“Some kind of poison that was on the rogue's claws,” I tell him. “See if you can find him so we can examine them.”
Drake stands up but his legs are a little shaky.
“Um where are the dead bodies?” Connor asks.
We look around and all the rogue bodies are gone. The only bodies on the floor are the dismembered witches.
“They took them. They’re going to bring them back and a demon is going to possess them,” I tell them.
“Great. Now we have to deal with rogues coming back to life,” Boston says.
“I don’t even care right now. We’ll deal with them when that happens. I need to get to your siblings because my boobs hurt like a b***h and I’m leaking,” I say, heading inside the gates.
