Before I met you

Luna Rebecca’s POV I wake up in the clinic but I don’t remember how I got here. I sit up and my head is spinning.  “Slow down princess,” one of my mates says. Mates. When my wolf told me I’d be given a second chance I thought she meant a second chance. Not three chances! The three of them are identical gorgeous specimens. How the hell am I going to tell them apart. I am looking at the three of them and my wolf is going crazy in my head. I want to want them but I just lost my first mate a little over two months ago. I’m still grieving for him and now I have three mates.  Gregory and I didn’t have the best start to our relationship. He was older and wanted to start a family right away. I was fresh out of high school and I wanted to wait. We fought about it all the time. He was pissed that I was taking pills to keep from getting pregnant. It’s not that I don’t want kids, I just want to enjoy being young for a little while. Greg wanted heirs. I had gone back home to talk to my mom about it and she had given me advice. I had finally come around to the idea of pups when I felt Greg's pain. I called home because I wasn’t in range to mindlink. They said Greg was hurt and I started heading back immediately. We were en route from the airport when I felt the bond break. I felt like my heart was being ripped to pieces. “Are you ok Luna? You seem lost in thought,” one of them says. “I’m sorry. I was just thinking,” I say. “What about?” He asks. “How I’m supposed to tell you three apart,” I say honestly. The three of them laugh and it’s the most amazing sound. They each introduce themselves again and I take deep breaths so I can take in their scents. Greyson smells like fresh rain, Frederick smells like mint leaves like we grow in the garden, Elijah has a warm woodsy scent. “Well if I can’t physically tell you apart then at least I can tell your scents apart,” I say. “You’ll get used to it. At least I hope you will. Our dad used to put stickers on us to tell us apart,” Elijah says, making me giggle. “Goddess, that's a beautiful sound,” Greyson says. “What is?” I ask. “Your laugh,” Freddie says. “Do you always do that?” I ask. “Do what?” The three of them ask. “Finish each other’s sentences, speak in unison, move the exact same way,” I say. “Yes,” they all say. “Good Lord,” I say, slapping my hand over my face. There is a knock on the door and the pack doctor peeks his head in. “Luna Rebecca?” He says, but it’s more like a question. “Come on in Doc,” I say. “I need to check your vitals,” he says. “Sure come on over,” I say. “Your highnesses, this is Doc Murphy.” “Don’t call us that. We are your mates. Your equals. Please don’t use our titles, you can call us by our first names,” Elijah says. “Ok,” I say. Doc tries to press the stethoscope to my chest and Elijah growls at him so loud he trembles and drops to his knees. “Elijah please,” Doc says. “That’s Prince Elijah to you. Keep your paws off my mate!” He growls. “I’m sorry your highness,” Doc says. “Elijah, please stop,” I say. I touch his arm and run my fingers up and down his bicep. “He just wants to make sure I’m well enough to go home.” Elijah calms down and the doctor stands. “Thank you,” I told him. “Prince Elijah I am going to examine your mate for injuries,” Doc says. “You told us you heal quickly. Was that not true?” He asked me. “It’s true. I do heal quickly. I assure you doc I’m fine. I just got a little overwhelmed is all. I wasn’t expecting to find my second chance mate so soon after the Alpha’s passing, much less three mates. It was a little too much to handle on an empty stomach,” I say. “You can’t keep doing that Luna. Your gift requires a lot of your energy. You cannot skip meals. You need to be eating more, not less,” Doc says. “I try, but I get full so easily,” I say. “I suggest three meals a day with snacks in between. Try high protein or high calorie snacks. Set a reminder or ask the kitchen staff to steadily bring you something throughout the day. I’ll see you again soon to check on your progress,” Doc says. “Thanks Doc,” I say. Doc’s eyes haze over and a moment later a nurse comes in with a bottle of orange juice, a yogurt cup and a big bowl of cut up fruit. “I will not release you until you’ve finished all of this,” he says. “I will. Promise,” I say. Elijah picks up a grape and puts it to my lips. I open my mouth and accept the fruit. Greyson picks up the yogurt and they take turns feeding me. Frederick is on the couch looking very sad. “Prince Frederick, are you ok?” I ask. “No,” he says. He sounds a bit choked up. “Please come here,” I say. “I can’t,” he says. “Why not? Are you hurt?” I ask. “He’s not hurt Luna,” Elijah says. “If I am not to call you by title then you must call me Rebecca or Becca. Why won’t your brother come to me? Does he not want me as a mate?” I ask. Frederick rushes over to my bed and sits next to me. Greyson pushes the tray away from the bed. “Of course I want you, but I’m afraid,” he says. “Of what?” I ask. “That you’ll reject me when you find out,” he says. “When I find what out?” I ask. “That I don’t deserve you,” he says. “You’re perfect.” “I assure you I am not perfect. No wolf is. How about you tell me and I will be completely honest with you,” I say. “Yesterday after getting our assignment my wolf was feeling anxious. Fitz was driving me crazy. I just thought...I thought he was frustrated...sexually,” he says. This made me giggle.  “Is that all?” I ask. “You thought I’d reject you because you were with another she-wolf last night, before we met, before you knew we were mates?” “Yes,” he says sadly. “Tell me something Frederick-” I say. “Freddie,” Greyson says. “Freddie. What reason did you have to come to Blood Moon Pack?” I ask. “You put in a request for leadership consultation,” he says. “Why?” I ask. “Because your Alpha died,” he says. “Yes. I had a mate before I met you. We may not have been fully mated but we did mate. Quite a bit. It was the topic of many of our fights,” I say. “Did he hurt you?” Freddie asks. “No, he did not hurt me. He wanted pups right away. I wanted to wait for a little while. We were only together for a year. We mated after six months, but I wouldn’t allow him to mark me until we came to an agreement about pups. I was away visiting my parents when I lost him. I never got to tell him that I was ready for pups. So you see I am no saint either. I am not perfect,” I say. “And I’d never hold your past against you unless it interferes with our future.” “You mean it?” He asks, looking into my eyes. I nod my head. “You’ll accept us as your mates?” “I already have,” I tell him. Elijah, Freddie, and Greyson embrace me and I feel so safe. Like I’m home.
