I followed Mateo through the winding corridors of the school, dodging other panicked students along the way. My werewolf senses were on high alert, picking up on every sound and scent around me.
Finally, I saw Mateo enter the janitorial room, and I couldn't help but wonder why he would go in there during a crisis. My curiosity got the best of me, and I tiptoed towards the door and peered inside. I saw Mateo gathering some cleaning equipment, and for a moment, I felt foolish for suspecting him of anything sinister. But then, my overactive imagination kicked in, and I started to make up funny and dangerous reasons for why he might need cleaning supplies.
Maybe he was a secret spy, and he needed to clean up after a top-secret mission. Or perhaps he was a potions master, and the janitorial room was his secret lair. I chuckled to myself at the thought of Mateo brewing dangerous potions in there.
But my amusement was short-lived when I saw him grab a broom, dustpan, mop and a bucket. My mind couldn't wrap itself around why someone as mysterious as Mateo would need cleaning equipment. I watched as he loaded everything onto a cart and pushed it out of the room.
I hesitated for a moment before following him. As I trailed behind him, I couldn't help but feel like I was stepping into danger. But my curiosity and determination to get to the bottom of this mystery outweighed any sense of fear.
Mateo continued down the hall, pushing the cart of cleaning supplies in front of him. I followed behind him, keeping a safe distance so as not to be seen. He rounded a corner and I heard the sound of shattering glass.
As I approached the corner, I could see the chaos that had ensued. A window had been broken and shattered glass was scattered across the floor. Students were huddled in corners, looking terrified and confused.
I watched as Mateo knelt down and started to clean up the mess. He worked quickly and efficiently, sweeping up the glass and putting it in the dustpan, then mopping the floor to make sure it was clean.
As he worked, I saw him glance up at me. "You can come out now, I know you've been following me."
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I stepped out from the corner. "What happened?" I asked, trying to sound casual.
Mateo shrugged. "Someone broke the window. I'm just cleaning up the mess."
"But why are you cleaning it up?" I asked, still puzzled.
Mateo gave me a small smile. "Someone has to do it."
I watched as he finished cleaning up the mess and then pushed the cart back towards the janitorial room. As he disappeared through the door, I couldn't help but wonder what was really going on with him. Why was he so mysterious, and why did he seem to be involved in everything that was happening?
I decided that I needed to find out more about Mateo, to figure out what secrets he was hiding. And I knew that I wouldn't rest until I uncovered the truth.
As I walked away from the scene, my mind was racing with questions and theories. Who was Mateo really, and what was his connection to the chaos at the school? I knew that I had to be careful, that danger was lurking around every corner.
But I also knew that I couldn't stop until I had uncovered the truth, no matter what the cost. And with that thought in my mind, I set off on a mission to discover the secrets that Mateo was hiding, no matter how dangerous it might be.
After finishing my classes for the day, I grabbed my bag and headed towards the exit. As I stepped outside, I was met with a gust of wind that nearly knocked me over. I wrapped my scarf tightly around my neck and started walking towards home, the chilly autumn air making my ears sting.
As I walked, I saw my friend Diego waiting for me on the sidewalk. "Hey, Sofia, want me to give you a ride home?" he asked with a friendly smile.
I grinned at him, grateful for the offer. "Sure, thanks Diego."
We walked towards his car, chatting about our day and the latest school gossip. Diego was one of my closest friends, and I felt comfortable around him. As we drove towards my house, I noticed that he seemed a little distracted, his eyes darting around the streets nervously.
"Is everything okay, Diego?" I asked, sensing that something was wrong.
Diego sighed. "I just got a weird phone call from my brother, Pedro. He said that something strange is going on in the city, that people are acting strange."
My heart sank at his words, and I couldn't help but think back to the chaos in the school earlier. "What kind of strange?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Diego hesitated before answering. "He didn't say much, just that people are acting out of character, like they're not themselves."
I could feel my pulse quickening with each passing moment. I knew that something was wrong, that danger was looming. "Do you think it's connected to the chaos at school?" I asked, my mind racing with theories.
Diego shrugged. "I don't know, but we should be careful. Maybe we should avoid going out at night, just to be safe."
I nodded, grateful for his concern. But deep down, I knew that I couldn't hide away from danger. As the future Alpha of my pack, it was my responsibility to protect my family and pack from harm. I needed to be strong, to be prepared for whatever was coming.
As Diego dropped me off at my house, I could see my mother and Juan waiting for me on the porch. Their faces were grave, and I could sense that something was wrong.
“What's going on?" I asked as I approached them.
