Timeless

Angela heard screams. She heard people in agony, her father, her friends, her best friend, Frey. She tried to save them but she couldn't she was being pulled back by her enemy, Dark. She tried to express her anger towards him but she couldn't move, couldn't speak, she just stood there. Dark walked towards her, flashed one of his brilliant smiles and said " Wake up! Wake up! " Angela opened her eyes. She had been dreaming. She remembered everything that had happened. The bright light, the machine, Frey, Dark's super soldier ,her dead friends and the world in ruins. The feeling of failure and disappointment came back to her. She looked around her expecting to see the dead bodies and torn down walls, what she saw made her gasp in astonishment. "Oh my! " Angela saw well furnished buildings, she saw people moving around the streets, she saw cars, really old cars. Angela was filled with confusion. She walked into the street, then she heard the sound of a screeching tire. The person driving the car tried to stop but he couldn't stop in time. The car hit Angela and sent her rolling down the street. The man hurried towards her. Angela got up almost immediately. She didn't have a scratch on her. He stared at her in bewilderment.
"Are you alright, ma'am " said the young man.
"I'm okay "
"I hit you. I could have sworn i hit you."
"I'm fine " Angela assured him.
"How are you not hurt?"
"Are you going somewhere, would you like me to give you a ride? " he asked.
"That depends, where am i? "Angela asked the young man.
"You're in California "
"Also, what year is this? "
The young man studied Angela carefully as if she was a psychiatric patient .
"This" he said finally "is 2021"
Angela finally understood why Frey took her into that room. She now understood what the machine was meant for. 'It can't be. ' she thought, but she had witnessed many crazy things in her life, but this was by far the craziest. "It was a time machine. " She had finished saying the words before she realized she had said it out loud.
"A time what?" the young man asked bewildered.
Angela tried to decide if she could trust the young man she had just met. He seemed like a good man and she realized she didn't have a choice. She was going to need his help anyway.
"I'm Angela." She said.
"Michael " the young man replied. "Where are you from? Or should i ask what time are you from? "
Angela looked at the man with surprise. He had just seen a woman with superhuman strength, and she had accidentally told him about a time machine. Yet he still managed to stay calm.
" I assure you there's an almost logical explanation for all of this." She said.
"I'll bet there is." He replied.
"No, but my dad was."
"I know we just met but I'm going to need your help Michael. "
"Let's go to my car. " he said as he helped her towards his car. Not that she needed any help.
While in the car Angela could do nothing but stare at her environment in amazement. The car looked new but the cars in the future were definitely better. Not that it mattered after the destruction of lives and properties. She shifted her attention to Michael. He hadn't said a word since she had gotten in to the car. She wondered if he had already began to regret his decision to help the young woman he just met.
Michael stopped in front of a building . He helped Angela out of the car and led her into his building. The gate looked old and was covered with dust. When she stepped in she could only marvel at how great his home was. The atmosphere was brightly decorated. There were six classic automobiles in front of his house. The cars were amazing, even from the standpoint of someone from the future.
"Your home is amazing " Angela said.
"Thanks. I live with my sister although she's hardly ever around. Most of the cars outside are hers. "
After they had finally settled in the house, Michael decided it was the right time to ask the questions.
"So, Angela, would you care to explain why you weren't hurt after i hit you with my car? Sorry about that by the way. "
"It's a really long story." Angela said.
"Don't worry, I've got time."
Angela paused for a while, then she began,
"I'm from 2036, a time when the world is filled with chaos. When I was nineteen my father was killed by his former best friend, a mad scientist known as Dark. Dark captured me and experimented on me. That's how i got my incredible strength and speed."
"Wait a minute, " Michael interrupted "Who's this Dark guy again? "
"He was an accomplished scientist " Angela replied. "He believed that the only way to save the world was to make humans better so performed experiments on humans to make them faster, stronger and better. Hundreds of humans died during the experiment. My dad tried to stop him which is why he was killed. " Angela paused for a while, then she continued "I joined a group of people, called the guardians. Most of them were people Dark experimented on like me. We refused to be his pawns and we fought against him. We thought we could win but then i discovered that Dark had created a machine that could destroy the humans on the earth. We couldn't stop him from activating the machine. " Angela's eyes were filled with tears now. "Billions of people died. Somehow i ended up here thanks to the time machine created by the scientist. I have to find a way back."
"I'm sorry. " Michael said. "I can't imagine what it must have been like for you. At least your dad's alive right now. "
"Of course! "Angela exclaimed midly annoyed she didn't think about it before. "I traveled fifteen years back, which means my dad's alive, but, it also means Dark is here too. Well, a younger version of him. This means we can stop him from creating the machine before he even does it. "
Michael was taken aback "Wait, we? "
"Of course Michael, you promised to help." Angela reminded him .
"Alright, but how do we find him?"
"That's easy. He was friends with my dad. So, if i can find my dad, i can get him to tell us where dark is. "
"No!" Michael yelled immediately. "Don't you watch movies? You can't go to your father, you can't risk letting him know about the future. What if you run into the present version of you? "
"I'm still nine in the present, i wouldn't know that I'm me from the future. "
"What? If you say or do something you're not supposed to do you could change the timeline. "
"We're trying to stop Dark from unleashing chaos in the future, our goal is to change the timeline anyway. "
"We have to think of another way to find him. " Michael said.
"This will probably be dangerous. If you don't want to help, I'll be okay with it. " Angela said.
"I'm going to help you Angela, besides, i can't miss the opportunity to save the future. " Michael replied.
Angela gazed at Michael through eyes flashing with fire "Let's do this."
