I ran out of the car, kissing my father on the cheek, leaving him to find a parking spot.
I dash toward the entrance of the prison. I called Kate in the car, asking her if I wasn’t too late to tag along. She said I had to hurry, but we could make it.
I see Kate by the entrance, waiting for me to pass all the security checks.
“I’m glad you are here,” she says when she sees me, giving me a quick hug.
We go through all the security checks together. She kindly warned the staff already that I’d be coming with her, so they didn’t look surprised to see an extra person.
