Dear Pearl,
Though young, innocent, and beautiful, stay mindful of this, my pearl, that the wise never stay wise by keeping company with the foolish. Innovative leaders surround themselves with more brilliant people. The smartest and best leaders I know are surrounded by people smarter than themselves. It doesn't happen by accident. It happens because of the leader's self-awareness in her strengths and weaknesses. It happens because she's confident enough to say, 'I don't know,' 'I'm not good at this,' or 'Someone else is better at this particular thing than I am.' The wise one keeps company with those who have something to offer. Follow the same course as in your early teens. Keep exposing yourself to professional, well-educated men and women of wealth.
