CHAPTER NINE Mark dragged himself into Leah’s office early in the morning. With a scowl on his features, the man noticed that no one else from his shift had arrived, and only one of the night detectives occupied the detectives’ squad. Anyway, the man was half-asleep at his desk and didn’t even register Mark’s arrival. With a sigh, Mark sat down and braced his elbows on the top of the table. Exhausted, the detective leaned his head in his hands and sighed. The man was so tired that he felt like putting his head on the desk and sleep for at least one hour more.
