An hour later, Leana arrived at the Thorley's residence on time. Daisy asked her to sit on the sofa and asked the servant to bring her a cup of coffee.
But just as the coffee was placed in Leana's hand, Gina inadvertently pushed the servant's hand. The cup of coffee was poured onto Leana's hand.
As the servant cried out in alarm, Leana felt a burning sensation on the back of her hand, followed by pain. Her hand trembled hard as she gritted her teeth and stood up.
The servant apologized, "I'm sorry, Ms. Leana."
Gina giggled. "It's fine. She has thick skin."
Leana swallowed the words she was about to say. She followed the servant to the bathroom to wash her wound with cold water. The servant took a burn cream and applied it to her wound. After ten minutes, Leana returned to the parlor.
She had experienced such kinds of situations countless times. But she didn't lose her eyesight before, so Gina seldom succeeded in setting her up.
Today she forgot to keep her guard up.
She held the guide rod in her hand and said, "Why did you ask me to come back?"
"The Standen family and the Thorley family have set up a marriage deal. Gina doesn't want to marry that man, so you'll have to be the bride." Daisy got straight to the point.
Leana was stunned for a while. "Why so?"
"That man is the second son of the Standen family, Graham Standen. He has no money, no power, and his legs are disabled. He is a good choice for you." Gina smiled and showed off. "Anyway, I have Martin, and we will be engaged soon."
When Gina mentioned Martin, Leana instantly thought of the voice message she heard last night. She clenched her fists tightly in fury. "Shameless!"
Hearing this, Gina shot her a cold glance, and said in a cold, irritable voice, "Who are you talking about?"
"I think you're clear in your heart," Leana said with a cold and lonely expression. "You're good at stealing someone else's boyfriend and recording your s*x with him."
Gina snorted, crossed her arms, and sneered at Leana, "Aren't you the same? Who did you sleep with last night? No wonder you don't even stay at home after coming back from abroad. It turns out that you're having fun with men outside every night..."
Gina immediately complained to Daisy, "Yesterday, she sent me a voice message in the middle of the night. It was a man's voice. Mom, don't you think it's strange?"
"Really?"
Gina nodded. "Of course. Otherwise, why wouldn't she stay at home?"
Daisy glanced at Leana with disdain. "Before your reputation is ruined, hurry up and marry into the Standen family."
"I won't." Leana looked up. "Since they chose Gina, why do you want me to marry that man?"
"We have raised you, and our kindness is enough for you to repay for a lifetime." Daisy crossed her arms in front of her chest. "How dare you refuse? You're so bold!"
"I left this house when I was 18. I never asked you for a penny during my four years of college," Leana replied to Daisy word by word. "I earned everything with my efforts."
A gust of wind suddenly blew in front of her. Before she could react, Daisy had slapped her face.
"Don't think that you can go against us when you grow up! Our Thorley family will always be your benefactor! Without us, you won't be so successful in your life!"
Leana staggered due to the sudden slap. She held onto the armrest of the sofa and tried to straighten her body, her face burning with pain.
She still insisted. "I won't marry him."
