[August 17th, 2010] [7:30 AM] _____-------------------______ David found himself lost inside a void filled with darkness. He could breathe again but his body wouldn't move at all. It was like he was in paralysis sleep mode or something. All in all, it sucked to be him at the moment. David looked around as best he could and noticed that his surroundings were monotone. No color, no noise, no life... It was all greying and depressingly lifeless to such an extent that it could make a dead guy want to commit suicide. David couldn't help but drop a tear or two knowing he had met his end without becoming someone who mattered. It was a harsh and cruel reality to accept, he was sure nobody would be able to even find his body so deep inside that damned river. 'This is bullshit!’ David thought to himself as he understood that he had died the moment he fell under the road-bridge. If things would've lasted a little longer, then perhaps, David would've met someone who needed him desperately. Who counts on him. Maybe, just maybe, he could've won the lottery! How terrible would that have been? This monotone space he floated in, was his afterlife? David couldn't understand, had he not done enough good to ultimately be sent to hell? He looked to his left and his little brother, who he had not seen in so long, slept on a bed right next to him. Just like in the past when they were children. David hasn't seen his little brother ever since that frustrating situation. David has always wished that he could have done something to fix everything. Being 12 years old wasn't easy at all. Charlie, that was the name given to David’s little brother. David also had a sister called Ariel, she was a very difficult person to understand. Her mysteriousness always bothered David, since he could never really figure out what exactly she was up to all her life. But, even so, Ariel was his big sister and a very smart cookie. By the age of 20, she had gone to medical school during the war, her reason for pursuing medicine was very honorable. David is the only one who understands why she studied medicine so hard. It was a strange day when Ariel confided in him for the first time. He regretted that he never got his big sister to trust him till so late in life. Thinking about how Charlie was sleeping deeply and cutely next to him. David had a feeling that his last wish had been fulfilled in some way. ’One more chance...’ David remembered his plead to the Gods as he drowned in the Slum Under Bridge River in the South Continent. Was he truly heard? David grew even more confused as he looked at his body. It was thin again, at least 'thinner' perse since he was still far from an athletic build. Was it a miracle? David couldn't even begin to think about how such a thing is possible. Could Stars have a will of their own? It wasn't like he lived inside a novel written by a guy who lazed on his couch and had a deep love of Stars, imagining he could become someone with a system like this!! David stared at the black and blue screen in front of him. It was a rather simple mechanism, easily understood. David swooshed it away with his hand, or so he thought, it seemed to be similar to a hologram and still floated in front of him not dispersing as he had thought. But it's in real life!! He got up after sitting on the edge for so long that his legs had fallen asleep and he fell sideways and almost smashed into the mirror closet door. Luckily he was able to react fast enough and held onto the wall next to the mirrored closet stopping himself from falling and smashing into the mirror closet door. David was startled, but not because of falling, he looked so young that he didn't recognize his own reflection. David has become a child again and at his prime, to boot! Also, when the hell did he get such good reflexes? Although David really never lived, he paid attention and had a decent memory. He can remember some of the things that happened in his past life. He had never been so quick to react! Much less by instinct. Was this because of the modifications the system did when it bonded itself to him? Many things that filled him with regret can be changed if this is a reality. If his thoughts are correct and he has been reborn into his own past and body, David knew exactly what he had to change first! Himself! David now had information that people are not aware of at the moment. Even those horrible war days that lasted more than a decade. Not even those who are responsible for the actions themselves were punished last time. If David could begin the training he went through in the past during his time with the Army he should be able to go further past his past-life ‘s limit due to the early start. This would mean that David will be able to punish most of those jackassess who kept looking for trouble. David wasn't looking for revenge or penance for the wrongs people did to him. He was just looking forward to reaching bigger places than before, just like he had promised himself in the past. And if any of those crap eaters dare to stand in his path to obstruct his plans for a decent future, David would fight as hard as possible with not an ounce of hesitation! Even to death! But, this was all speculation as of now, David could only try and use his knowledge to come up with plans on how to grow stronger, in his past life David lived up to the age of 30 and had reached the Apprentice Rank. This was a feat that not many people could accomplish! Yet, David was ridiculed due to his lack of attributes and proficiency with skills and spells. David walked out of the room to yet another surprise that almost gave him a heart attack. His mother, Claudia is standing before him at this moment. This is the woman who showed him true love and loyalty and the person whose death he suffered the most. 'If in this life I can't save even you, I would lose 80% of my reason to live it to the end.’ David thought to himself as he held back his tears of relief and joy. "What's wrong Dave? Are you not feeling well?” Claudia checked his temperature by touching David’s forehead. She was concerned because David suddenly seemed paler than usual. ”I’m fine, mother.” David said with a smile as he grabbed ahold of Claudia’s hand and felt the warmth. Having felt her cold hand when she passed, David had a heavy heart. Now, that he had felt her warmth, he felt like a huge load had been lifted from his shoulders. That heavy heart was no longer a problem. ”Oh! Alright, let's hurry to school, even though it's the final 4 weeks before summer, being late is not an option.” Claudia said blushing thanks to David’s unusual mature response, and her words are a lecture that David will uphold. In his pastlife, David was quite rebellious and ignored many of his families elders advice. With time he learned that if he had listened to their words and took them seriously many of his regrets could've been avoided. Even though she seemed to act like she was above the world, she actually competed a lot with David in the past and even lost the last time they went at it. Knowing how his big sister is truly warm on the inside, David smiled at her current disposition! David would usually fall for her taunts and get angry. But, things are very different now and David paid no mind. After cleaning his face and brushing his teeth, David got in the car and Claudia drove away as fast and safely as possible. _____--------------_____ Looking at everything Claudia passed by as she drove them to school. David found that things in the past were very different! In 2022 most of these buildings were torn down because of that huge cyclone that ended a lot of lives! David had an undeniably happy smile on his face. It can't be avoided, after so long he was finally back in his hometown. ”I’m finally back ’Elderstone’!” David said as he felt the nostalgia of being back in his hometown where he was born and raised. In his pastlife Elderstone had been ravaged by a rivaling city after the cyclone and left with low resources. The cities in this East Continent are governed by the Mafia. Even the King of the Eastern Continent itself used to be part of a famous Mafia Famiglia! People might think that this made things horrible and criminal activity would rise because of the continent being led by such a figure. It was the contrary, the Eastern Continent has blossomed and become a very powerful place that even other continents suffered. Even so.... David participated in that war as a soldier and after reminiscing everything he had seen... how darkness slowly corrupted the light in Elderstone he remembered about its fall! Those times were the hardest for most people, to the survivors who were met with the war after that saw it as a cute puppy though. Because, the Heavenly War was what truly destroyed not just the Eastern Continent, but the entire world had met utter destruction and humans were enslaved to the beings that came from the sky. "Dave, I need you to listen to me...” Claudia’s voice snapped David back from his now distant past into the car. ”...don’t get into more trouble at school. I don't want another call from your teacher saying you were being asocial!” Claudia warned David with a strict tone as she slowly stopped in front of the school gate. David nodded with a serious expression and got off the car. ’School...’ He thought as he saw this nostalgic building that only brought harsh memories of being bullied by his ’friends’ and even betrayed by his current ’girlfriend’. [Saints High School], a prestigeous private school from hell. At least that's what it was for David... Ariel is a pretty well-known girl, be it her good charisma and excellent looks, nobody could deny them. David on the other-hand never really had a good eye for making friends. Walking inside the building, David felt a rush of memories overflowing in his head. He took out his phone and looked at the date. ”Seems like I came just in time for the drama.” David sighed and muttered to himself as he shook his head. After a few minutes the bell for the first class rang. David remembered that he had History now and walked towards the classroom slowly. The students around him sped like maniacs to their respective classrooms and sat on their usual seats. Once David arrived in his classroom he saw that everybody had already been seated and quietly waited for the teacher to call their names from the attendance list. David slowly walked inside the classroom and began heading to his usual desk way at the back left corner with a window view to the outside. The teacher called each name and then began the class. She spoke of some normal crap that everybody should know already and before he knew it class was over and it was time to go to the next one. As he grabbed his backpack, a huge shadow covered his small framed body. This brought back some memories, David had a feeling that this person was his old bully. ”Hey, dwarf, do you have my lunch money?” a fat kid’s voice questioned in a threatening way. ”Sigh, Chavez, I have no money for you today or ever again.” David replied calmly without even looking at Chavez the fat bully. ”What did you say? There's nobody around, dwarf, I can rough you up and no one would even know. Are you going to...” Chavez kept trying to make threats but was interrupted by a cold, murderous and fear inducing glare that threatened to devour him whole, coming from David. ”Are you still speaking? Do I need to show you how serious I am? Fatty!” David said with a cold and unemotional tone that gave Chavez cold shivers down his spine. ”No need, no need...he he....” Chavez was a bully, but he was also a smart kid, he knew that if he kept talking, this 5’ brat had the ability to beat him down. David walked away and left Chavez standing there in a cold sweat. _______--------------_______ [Third Class] The day went by pretty fast. For a kid, school feels like a prison and boring as hell. For David on the other hand, even though boring as hell, school felt right and peaceful. To boot, it has been an excellent day! After David used a bit of intimidation on Chavez, he got something from the system. Once he learned this skill he was able to understand more profoundly and activate it in an instant by just thinking about it. It could also trigger due to emotional fluctuations. If it was like this, David will have it easy. Learning fighting techniques should be much easier and also acquiring some special moves like the North Continent people who are known to use mythical and magical powers to fight. It seems like the system will help him become a terrifying monster with terrible power! As the third class ended lunch time came. Good timing too, David was beginning to feel hungry! _______-----------________ [Lunch Hour] Lunch Hour, is a time for socializing for the students of [Saints High School]. Students would usually look for their crowd and enjoy a meal together or play video games in a corner where teachers couldn't see. Rich students would go and eat at the Student Mall where quality food is found. Even though expensive it was truly great to be able to eat there. Sadly, with David’s current financial situation it was impossible for him to buy a meal at the school canteen let alone the Student Mall where a plate of food would go for 25$. David was never one for expensive taste anyway, he would eat anything he could. Every food was tasty and scrumptious. David would eat a raw cow if he had to, for survival! Not to mention the effort he went through in order to learn how to cook to not starve ever again. Also, David had a goal and to get there he need a lot of money.
