Nolini and his Hotel
A FORTNIGHT LATER THE GOVERNOR CALLED for a follow-up meeting between the interested parties. Nolini announced that a suitable site had been found on the headland on the south side of the island. Situated on hitherto protected wasteland, the site overlooked the entrance to the creek which ran in from the Indian Ocean and separated the island from the southern mainland. This creek led to the deep-water harbor in the port of Kilindini. All the large oceangoing vessels would have to pass the hotel complex on their way inwards to their berths, which would make for interesting viewing for the guests.
