First Rumblings
PETER WAS PLEASED to find that the children had tidied up the house when he returned to work next morning. “Asante sana,” he told them.
The children wasted no time showing him their new treasures. Peter who had only an old black Raleigh sit-up-and-beg bicycle to ride to and from work — no gears — was impressed with their gifts, but he obviously wondered why someone unrelated to them had given the children such expensive presents. He and Bob discussed the matter while Peter prepared the lunch.
“This Mr Nolini, he’s the boss of the hotel, Mahali Mzuri?” Peter asked Bob.
“Yes, that’s right. He’s an important businessman who is bringing employment to Mazita.”
