CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
A Week and a Half Later
“Upsy-daisy.” CeCe set Linda on the hood of his silver, Nissan Sentra. “How’s that view, huh?”
“It’s gorgeous.” Linda adjusted herself on the car, looking at the cluster of gleaming stars above them.
CeCe climbed up beside her and put his arm around her shoulders, surprising her by how relaxed he seemed doing it.
“The stars are so bright.” A breeze pushed Linda’s hair over her shoulders. “They’re lighting up the sky.”
“I used to come out here all the time and sit for hours on my car like this.” His eyes met hers and she smiled. “It’s nice to do this with someone else.”
“You never brought anyone up here?”
“I wanted to bring Connie.” He cleared his throat. “But, she wouldn’t give me the time of day so—”
“You really like her, don’t you?”
