CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
Linda jerked when the bedroom door opened hours later.
CeCe walked in smiling with his pants covered in dirt and only wearing his sleeveless white undershirt. “You all right?”
She shivered, whimpering.
“I’m so sorry for how I acted earlier.” He shuffled toward the bed, smelling of the wilderness. “I’m not letting anyone ruin this for us.”
“What did you do to the cop?”
“I buried her in the woods.” His hands looked as though he’d tried to wash the dirt off but hadn’t had much success. “Are you flattered?”
