Maize
Maize awoke with the sun tickling her face and she yawned, surprised she"d actually managed to sleep despite her nerves. Serena"s warm arm was draped over her midriff, the weight familiar and reassuring. Maize never wanted this to end but after hearing Serena"s answer last night, she knew that it would if there was no mark.
She watched the beautiful woman next to her, committing the image to memory in case this was the last time she"d get to see it.
Serena stirred and her eyes fluttered open. "Is it morning?"
"It"s morning," Maize confirmed, the nerves rampant in her stomach. "Do you want me to leave so you can check your body first or...?"
"No. Stay. Let"s look together?" Serena"s hands were gripping the sheet so tight, her knuckles were turning white. "Ready?"
