CHAPTER ONE: MY OWNER BY ACCIDENT.
Multiple gunshots echoed through the large tunnel-like corridors. “Hold on, Cleo. Please, don’t leave me!” Rachael ran through the dark hallway with heavy heartbeats. She refused to think on the punishment that awaited her once she was caught escaping, and yet, she was willing to put up with anything as long as she got to see Cleo again. She recalled the familiar face she saw on the announcement screen and underneath it was the word – ‘XX ID: 009876 - SOLD’. Mixed emotions of gratitude and fear coursed through her as she made it past the main entrance of the underground building where she had spent more than a decade of her life. The drops of water rushing over made her realize it was raining, something she hadn't felt in a long time. She began looking around for her target when multiple alarms blared through the large underground building behind her. Her heart lurched at this and she rushed to conceal herself in the nearest bushes, better hidden as it was nighttime. “Find that girl!” Rachael clasped a palm over her mouth as she struggled to hold back her tears. Though she was really scared doing this, the thought of never seeing her sister once the buyer took her away from this dark place had her mustering back some of her bravery and she kept searching into the woods laid spread around her. A wave of relief coursed through her as she finally spotted her target minutes later. The girl, Cleo, was in the same pink garment that every girl in that underground building was forced to wear. At this moment, she was being handed over to two men dressed in black suits. Rachael momentarily lost touch with the surroundings as she could only focus on the young woman she easily recognized, even from such a distance. Cleo was about to be taken into a large aircraft that had landed on a tall stone platform. "No! Please, no!" It was safe to state Rachael had lost her mind at this point as she ran out of the bushes and straight in her sister's direction. "Don't take her away, please!" With every swift step, she advanced towards the aircraft. She was less than twenty-five feet away when she realized there were more than two men in black suits taking Cleo away. She caught sight of the tall and sharp figure of a man in a royal-blue fitted suit when a body suddenly crashed into her from the side and she was sent falling to the ground, hard. “A freaking runaway!” Rachael groaned as her arms were being aggressively twisted behind her by men in warden uniforms; they had tackled her to the ground. "Let me go!" She managed to look up at the woman they were taking inside the aircraft. “Cleo! Please, don’t go!” "Shut up!" One of the wardens raised the back of his hand to slap her face against the ground, glad it shut her up. "Over here!" He called out to the security men and women with flashlights in the distance. "We've got the runaway!" Rachael's eyes widened. If she didn't fight with all she had right now, she was going to lose Cleo forever. "Let me go! That's my sister! Let me go!" “What is going on here?” A calm but baritone voice that held power drew the wardens' attention and they froze up a bit. Rachael found a pair of legs in glossy black shoes stopping right in front of her face on the ground. The lax hold by the warden gave her enough space to turn her gaze up, and her breath hitched at the sight looking back down at her beneath a clear umbrella that was shielding him from the rain. This was a tall man with a muscular build that ripped through the suits hugging his biceps at the right angle. Despite the darkness, the penetrative yet beautiful pair of emeralds he had for eyes was far too enchanting, complementing his chiseled brown face hidden behind the curtains of wavy brown hair cascading down to his shoulders. Even Rachael forgot her mission for a brief second. “Who is this lady?” The man turned his gaze on the wardens, calm but oppressive. “And what am I looking at here? Is this how you treat your products?” The wardens quickly got off Rachael, yanking her to her feet. “We’re deeply sorry you had to witness this, Sir.” Rachael realized this group of wardens held much respect for the handsome man in a suit, so she turned her attention to him. "Please, help me. Don't take her away from me." "Shut up!" Another warden tightened her grip on Rachael's arm, furious this young woman was simply ignoring their silent warnings. The man turned his gaze behind him to the woman in the hands of his bodyguards, who was also looking back at the scene. The man glanced at Rachael. “You know that lady?” “That’s my twin sister, sir. Please, she’s all I have. Don’t separate us!” “Twin sister?” The man looked into Rachael’s beautiful grey eyes; there was a beauty that currently couldn’t be seen on her muddy face. “But I already purchased this item. I have no intention of giving her back.” Rachael was momentarily lost for words. She should have known this man wouldn't just release Cleo. The fact that he was here despite knowing this underground building sold young women should have made things clear to her. The wardens were about to take her away when she swiftly turned to the man again. “Then buy me!” The man’s expression remained reserved. “I can please you in ways you won’t regret. Anything you want, I can deliver with the best services.” Rachael saw the man’s interested gaze and she wasn’t going to back down on her persuasion for the man’s purchase. “You won’t regret buying me, I promise.” “Foolish girl!” The warden who had slapped her earlier pulled back his fist in anger when the sound of the engine reached the group of people. Everyone looked back to find a man in a white lab coat walking out of a vehicle. "What is going on?" The man in a white coat walked to the group to reveal he was a tall, dark-skinned man in glasses, lean built, and shabby grey spikes for hair. “Dr. Coloradi! Um.. You didn't have to come. We had it all handled." The wardens bowed their heads in respect to the man who appeared to be in his late forties. They all had a scared expression on their faces. The doctor ignored them as he hunched towards the elegant man with a pleading smile instead. “Mr. Mikhail, I apologize you had to witness such a thing today.” He then walked up to about an inch away from Rachael’s face with a dark expression. “So you’re the runaway.” With his back blocking Mikhail’s view, he snapped his finger beneath Rachael’s chin, expecting the girl to fall into a trance. What he didn’t expect was the girl’s eyes didn’t lose focus. Rachael looked Dr. Coloradi straight in the eye for a brief moment before looking past his right shoulder. “Please, mister, I promise you won’t regret it.” She went back to persuading the elegant man, who she now knows goes by the name, Mikhail. Dr. Coloradi was left in a momentary state of awkwardness at what had just happened. He had just failed to pull this girl into a trance. Mikhail also saw what had just transpired between the two and his gaze suddenly became decisive. He waved for the bodyguards to take Cleo into his private jet. “I want this girl, now, and I’m willing to pay twice the price for my sudden request.” Dr. Coloradi quickly regained from his shock. “I’m sorry, Mr. Mikhail, but someone already purchased her.” Fear coursed through Rachael; she didn’t know what this doctor was up to, but she knew he didn’t want the elegant buyer to get his hands on her. Mikhail’s hands remained in his pockets the whole time as his bodyguard kept a strict hold on the umbrella. “Oh! Who?” “That will be me.”
