Isobel.
“The lycan king has refused to hand over Samson's body, and it doesn't sit well with us letting him stay there. His beta never took permission from us before taking away his body, and in addition to your sister being the famous healer they talked about, I feel she uses a spell on her patients….” my mother in law told me two days ago.
She walked closer and continued, “She has the lycan prince running all over her, as I heard. What prince, with their clear eyes and correct senses, would be over a wolfless thing like her? I can't believe they are all blind to the fact that she had been using a spell and claiming she had a healing power.”
I bit my lower lip.
Nothing was more infuriating than hearing that the famous healer heard across the packs was my useless sister, who never went to college. Whereas I, who went to college, had nothing to offer to the entire pack if not my Luna title.
“Since we lost, you are our only hope now. Go against your sister anyhow you know and see to it that she is taken away from beside my son so we can take her back. Unless you want to lose him to that wolfless, useless thing.”
I shook my head, gripping my head at both sides.
My six years of hard work couldn't be in vain. Watching my sister take back her mate would bring shame to me, and my parents would even call me incompetent for losing to my sister, whom we'd forgotten for years.
I had already thought I could use this privilege to step down as luna and out of Alpha Samson's life, because he had never regarded me as his luna. Six years of marriage, and he hadn't ever gazed at me softly, talking of touching me.
He had always reminded me how I wasn't his mate and wouldn't get his love. And for this, he was never on good terms with his family, too, and it bothered me.
But my sister coming into view was making me weaker. I wouldn't stand losing to that wench after several years of adding efforts to please Alpha Samson.
I would be trolled. My friends and family would mock me.
If it were another woman going to take my place, then it would have been better. But the very one whom I mistreated and snatched her mate from? I wouldn't let that happen.
Since Alpha's parents didn't succeed in taking back his body, I wrote a petition against Annette, that she was the mastermind behind the attack on our pack, just so she would take back her mate from me. I knew that alone would trigger the lycan king to imprison her, because she would become a threat to them.
But five days later, I got no response that Annette had been summoned to the palace, which meant that she was still treating Alpha Samson with whatever spell she uses, so she would have him back again.
It doesn't matter if Samson still doesn't regard me. At least his family knew that I wasn't barren, but their son didn't want me birthing a pup for the pack.
My parents had also done their part to see that I got this position, so it was left to me to hold it tighter and not let my filthy sister take it back. She was useless and would keep deceiving people with her fake powers.
___
“Did you find out about the lycan prince's mate?” I asked my headservant, and she nodded. “Get ready, I'm going to see her.”
I'd thought of the next step to take since the lycan king wasnt acting towards my petition against Annette, and the only idea I got was messing her up in the presence of people so she would be stripped of her career as a healer and thrown into jail.
Alpha Samson's mum had assured me that they had gotten a capable healer who would take care of him when he returned to the pack, so he must surely be saved. With that, I had no reason to fear and went ahead with my plans.
“Is everything ready?” I inquired again, and my headservant nodded.
In the next few minutes, we left the lodge we had been staying in since I left the pack, down to the address of the prince's mates' residence.
When we arrived, we were let in after so much waiting, and the lady looked so pale and had lost weight too.
“I am the Luna of Infinite Pride Pack, and would love an audience with you, please,” I said to her, while she looked at me from head to toe.
I knew well that the lycans looked down on werewolves, which was also a reason to believe that Annette had a charm against them, or they wouldn't let her live in their clan.
The lady let me in and offered a seat. She looked too weak to speak, so I went ahead with why I was present.
“I learnt from my parents that my sister, whom we thought was dead, was in this clan, as the famous healer, using spells to treat people and buying favors. I paid less attention until they mentioned how they were scared the lycan royal family would come after them for spellbinding their son and turning his face away from his mate. I made so many inquiries, and I'm here to know what's going on. Is it true that the prince is withdrawing from you because of her?” I asked, sounding so pitiful.
She nodded after so much silence and then managed to say to me, “I really want her out of this clan. Could you people just take her back?”
I smiled inwardly and responded, "It's not that simple, since the prince is involved. But I've gotten some things ready, and I look forward to you allying with me to gradually have her thrown out of the clan. She's a bad influence on the pack and our family, too…”
After staring at me for a long time, she asked, "What's your plan?”
___
Hours later…
I entered the clan's hospital with the prince's mate, whose name I didn't even know. I had spilled every one of my plans to her since the first didn't seem to be working out, so she understood why I was up to that, even knowing that my alpha was under the care of my sister.
She said to me while we were leaving, “You know, she wouldn't have been dumped if she were good, so don't mind if they are mates or not, and get back alpha to yourself while I take back the prince. She must leave this clan, and I hope the moon goddess strikes her to death for all her atrocities."
Upon recalling those words of hers, I complimented myself for being able to poison her mind so easily.
She would resent me if she found out what my past with Annette looked like, but it doesn't matter because we had nothing in common except this.
As we entered the ICU, my blood boiled in rage as I caught Annette doing whatever it was at Alpha Samson. I dashed towards her and smacked her so hard that she lost her balance and was held up by another healer in the room.
I snorted, my eyes went from her back to alpha, and then to her again. “I couldn't be late, right? You hadn't used your freaking spell on him already…”
Her brows wrinkled, “Isobel?!”
“That's me, you wench…!!”
“What does this mean?” she asked, her palm still on her cheek. “You dash into this room and raise your filthy hand on me?”
I made a long face, “So what will you do? Hit me back?”
“She wouldn't dare, when I'm going to let the world know how you spellbound my mate too,” came the voice of the prince's mate.
Annette shook her head. She really didn't see this coming.
Without the lycan king's order, alpha’s body won't leave the clan…and it was this order that I aimed for.
“Are you too shocked that we found out your secret?”
“What f*****g secret are you talking about?” she retorted, her voice loud and heavy, unlike in the past. Annette never fought back, but here she was, trying to challenge me.
