The Last Light

Novera’s mom comes banging on her door yelling at her for waking up late for school. She didn’t realize that cause the previous night she came home drunk after having a wild night getting drunk with her best friend Veyra. She rushed up and prepared for school meanwhile her brother Tavros has already prepared for school waiting patiently for her. They arrived in school, where she met her best friend veyra, the hanged around discussing about the previous night, then verya told her about her cousin who was coming to town that day, she insisted that she follow her home to see him. She didn’t want to cause she rejected his offer to be in a relationship with him, after a long time of convincing her she agreed to go with her to welcome him home, then bell for classes began to ring that was when she realized she hasn’t prepared her presentation and she was to present that morning. She tried telling veyra but she couldn’t understand what she was saying cause she was rushing to get to her class. Novera was left all alone to face the terror of her teacher, Miss Shirley, a very strict woman when it comes to academic work, also a rude woman who wouldn’t want an explanation for anything but goes straight to her judgement when rendering grades to her student. Student hated her that they had to nickname’’ dragon lady’’ cause whenever she talks she intends to spit out fire. Time for the presentation she was already panicking, her opposite seatmate noticed her trembling and asked what happened, she explained things to him and he offered to help, to her curiosity she didn’t know what he could do to help, she only saw him standing up and walking up to the teacher’s desk and whispering things to her ear and she didn't make any signs. When he was done talking to her she stood up and announced that every presentation was canceled and will continue tomorrow, Novera glanced at him wondering what he told her. He just nodded and gave her a look of assurance. After class she met him at his locker and thanked him and asked how to repay him and in the open he asked her out on a date, she started gibbering with her eyes wide open, then she yelled ‘’what!!!’’. People around where just wondering what really happened. She hurriedly ran to the bathroom, without giving him an answer. She didn’t want to come out and even decided to stay there even for her core course that was ongoing. Arlo noticed her absence and knew that he was at fault for it. Class dismissed and he was looking for her, he approached her when he finally saw her leaving the school with veyra, he apologized for asking her out in the open and offered her his notebook of the class she missed, he then told her to think about the date and left. She kept looking at him as he walked pass them already loss in thought, veyra clicked her finger at her face to call back her attention. She was curious to know what was going on between them. She offered that she will tell her on their way to see her cousin. At veyra’s home where she was preparing her presentation whereas waiting for her cousin, she had already told veyra about Arlo, she insisted that she agree to date him, reminding her to get over her ex-boyfriend. At the thought of her ex, she froze, her eyes getting wet, veyra saw it and apologized for bringing him up. After consoling her, she teased her and told her to better accept Arlo’s offer before people start thinking she is a lesbian, they both laughed over it. By the time they were done talking, veyra’s cousin was already home at the sight of seeing him she jumped to hug him telling him how she really missed him. He saw Novera sitting on the couch and offered her a hug, She declined and shaked him instead. Veyra went to get him water while Novera sat down back to continue her work. He wanted to start a conversation between them but she hesitated and stood up to join Veyra in the kitchen. As she stood up she started getting dizzy and just like that she fainted. Leo walked up to her trying to revive her with first aid but there wasn’t any response, Veyra quickly called an ambulance and she was rushed to the hospital.
