Unfavoured
I know the world isn't fair, nor does it seem fair, but why is it that it hardly ever favors us? Why are we always alone, burdened with unfavoured pain, scars, and battering? Our hopes have been scattered by the wind, and our patience disperses like a prayer escaping our lips. We wonder if we will ever be among the favoured. How does one keep striving forward when everything appears to be crumbling down before our pitiful eyes? We find ourselves caught up in troubling, tribulations, circumstances and heartful yet vicious occurrences. But then, I guess at times it is okay to be or feel unfavoured.
Has the world neglected us? Has the world, as we know it, forgotten about us? It is a world filled with immense possibilities, yet we have given everything we've got to this world and its possibilities. Sadly, it still chooses to unfavour us. There is so much pain and hurt lingering in our hearts and thoughts. Being unfavoured, prayer alone doesn't seem to be the answer or the key to our unfavouredness. Deep in our thoughts, we feel unfavoured, tucked far away.
Unfavoured, we may be, but not by the world. The world is indifferent, neither favouring nor unfavouring. It is we who label ourselves as such. Our perceptions, our expectations, our desires, they all play a role in how we view our position in the world.
We are not alone, for there are many who share our plight. We are not burdened with pain, but rather we choose to carry it. Our scars are not a sign of unfavour, but a testament to our resilience. And our battering? It is the result of our own actions, our own decisions.
Our hopes have not been scattered by the wind, but by our own hands. We have allowed them to be blown away, instead of holding on to them tightly. Our patience does not disperse like a prayer, but rather it is our impatience that causes us to lose it.
We will be among the favoured, when we stop seeking favour from the world, and start finding it within ourselves. We keep striving forward, not because everything is crumbling down, but because we have the strength to rebuild.
The world has not neglected us, nor has it forgotten about us. It is we who have neglected and forgotten ourselves. We have given everything to the world, but what have we given to ourselves?
It is okay to feel unfavoured, but it is not okay to remain that way. The world is filled with possibilities, but it is up to us to seize them. We have given everything to the world, but what have we given to ourselves?
There is pain and hurt lingering in our hearts and thoughts, but it is not the world that has caused it. It is we who have allowed it to fester. Prayer alone may not be the answer, but neither is wallowing in self-pity.
We feel unfavoured, tucked far away, but it is not the world that has tucked us away. It is we who have tucked ourselves away, in the dark corners of our own minds.
Unfavoured, we may be, but not by the world. The world is indifferent, neither favouring nor unfavouring. It is we who label ourselves as such. Our perceptions, our expectations, our desires, they all play a role in how we view our position in the world.
We are not alone, for there are many who share our plight.
