According to the doctors, the insemination process was successful so why was she bleeding? It can't possibly be her period because she had missed two months.
Was there something wrong with her baby? Was she having a miscarriage?
All these questions spun in Avery's head.
Anthony had already gone to work, so didn't have to answer any questions about her whereabouts.
Thankfully, she would get the test results today.
She caught a cab and headed to the hospital.
She would have called the families doctors but considering the fact that Anthony had warned her to abort the baby, she decided against it.
She got to the hospital and sat opposite the gynecologist.
The office was spacious, a flower stood at a corner, and there was a huge window with a mesmerizing view of the city.
"These are the scan results." The doctor slid some paper on the desk towards her. "It shows that your baby has just started to develop. There are no signs of a miscarriage"
"So why was I bleeding?" She asked with a frown, her eyes staring intently at the doctor.
"The bleed is as a result of hormonal changes." The doctor explained, his voice was calm, eyes staring back at Avery. Both his elbows were placed on the smoothly polished mahogany desk. "The bleeding might have been as a result of intense emotions. I would advise you to reduce stress, take lots of rest if you want the child to be healthy."
After the doctor's explanation, Avery let out a sigh. Her muscles relaxed. For a second there she thought something was happening to her baby.
This baby was her only reason to remain in that marriage even after her mother's death.
The pregnancy gave her a sense of hope. She instinctively felt the urge to always protect it.
"Thank you so much sir” Avery breathed.
"Of course." He replied then stretched out another paper to her. “these are some supplementary prescriptions, just take it according to the prescription and you'll be fine”
"Thank you." she said as she stood up from the chair.
"My pleasure." The doctor responded.
Avery walked briskly out of the office. Now she had to hide those results from Anthony.
How would she hide these papers from Anthony? If he could lock her up for walking out on him then how would he react if he found out that she had disobeyed him?
As she took the left turn, heading out of the reception, she bumped into someone and the file containing the papers fell off.
"Sorry..... Cole" her brows furrowed.
"Avery, what are you doing here?" He asked as he helped her pick up the papers.
He glanced at the paper and saw the scan pictures.
"You're pregnant!" He gasped eyes wide. He wasn't expecting her to still be pregnant, not after Anthony had woken up.
Anthony didn't seem like he wanted a child.
Avery quickly collected the papers and arranged them back in the file.
"I don't think that should concern you." Avery's voice came sharp but calm.
"So I'm guessing he's not aware." Cole smirked. "Why keep the child knowing well that he's not wanted?"
"My life shouldn't be your concern, I believe that's not why you're here." Avery snarled. "This isn't your concern." She walked away from Cole without glancing back.
She stepped out of the hospital and into the hot scorching summer sun. The heat was heavy on her, her shoulders slump and she squint her eyes.
Cole was right. This child wasn't wanted by it's father, so why bring a child into a life with no love? Would her love be enough? She would definitely love her child but what about his father?
**************************************************************.
"What do you want?" Anthony's voice was icy, his gaze cold as he stared at Chelsea who sat opposite him, both of them separated by the huge desk.
"I just stopped by to say hi" Chelsea cooed smiling at Anthony.
She was Anthony's ex and now, he wanted nothing to do with her.
He had realized that being with another woman didn't help with the pains, it only made it worse. And he found himself wanting her to be like Avery but she wasn't Avery and would never be.
" Chelsea." His voice was sharp and firm " this is a business place, you only come here if it's business"
" You've barely spent time with me, since you came back from your vegetative state, you've been distant." Chelsea said.
" Chelsea. Get out or I'll have my gaurds drag you out" Anthony's brows were almost touching, his lips pressed in a straight line and his muscles tensed.
"I have information you might want to know." She brought out her phone, ignoring Anthony's warning.
She turned the screen to him and he saw the picture of Avery and Cole together.
His jaw clenched, as his stomach twisted. They just stood facing each other but still, it made his stomach churn. His brows creased.
" She's a traitor. She's carrying Cole's child and pretending like it's your" Chelsea gushed leaning forward on the desk.
Chelsea hadn't noticed the slight movement of Anthony's hand, he had pressed the button on his desk signalling security to come to his office.
The door slid open and two men dressed in black walked in.
"Escort her out" he rumbled.
" What!" Chelsea gaped. Anthony, I just did you a favor....." She didn't finish saying and the guards tapped her shoulders.
"Get your filthy hands off me" she spat. She stood up glaring at Anthony, but Anthony didn't even spare her a glance. He just looked down and pretended to continue working on the papers but his mind had drifted too far.
The gaurds escorted her out shutting the door behind them.
Anthony heaved a sigh as he leaned back on his chair. Avery pregnant for Cole? That couldn't be possible. Chelsea was too nosy.
Maybe she hadn't aborted the baby. So that explains the bulging tummy.
He would definitely deal with her. She had disobeyed him.
