1. Best Friend's betrayal
One finger down if you've kissed a teacher, one finger down if you're the hottest girl at school, one finger down if you're the best at what you do, and one finger down if you're the queen of Oakville High, the best private high school in New york. Didn't get that? Well, that's because I wear the crown already. Two girls scurry out of my way as I move through the hallway, Bianca and Josephine flanking me on both sides. The other students in the hallway turn to look at me. Why won't they? My beauty and flair are hardly unnoticed. If anything, it's worth looking out for. I wear the same ash skirt, black leggings, white shirt and blue jacket like the other girls in the school but I add some spice to it. There's something about power that drives someone crazy. It sinks deep into your identity and makes you feel as if no one can ever take it away from you. As the queen bee of Oakville High, I let my power get to my head. I revel in it. My place is secured as the number one student of the school and nothing and no one can bring me down. I open my locker and examine my make-up in my locker mirror. I fix my straight black hair with my hair brush. My hairdresser takes good care of my hair and it's so good that it has become the beauty standard in the school. Black, straight and silky. They should just wait, at the fashion parade happening in a few days, I will dazzle them all. And with Nicholas, my boyfriend, the hottest boy in school, and leader of the basketball team at my side. I drop my hairbrush and pick up my lipstick to add an extra gloss to my lips. Mr. Raymond should see that I'm perfect. A perfect student for the perfect teacher. I smell good already but I take another spray of my designer cologne. I don't need to ask Bianca or Josephine if I look good. I know I do. "I'll be leaving you guys at this juncture. We will meet in the cafeteria at lunchtime." "You sure like your favourite teacher," Josephine says and I smile at her statement. Leaving them, I head straight to Mr. Raymond's office. I knock first, open the door, and peep into the room before entering. "Hello, sir..." I greet him with a cute smile. "Hello, Abigail. How have classes been today?" "Excellent as usual," I say, taking the seat in front of his desk. I'm used to visiting Mr Raymond in his office. We talk about important themes like betrayal, self-development, love, romance, relationships and stuff like that. He's the literature teacher and he makes it clear that if we had any literature issues we shouldn't hesitate to meet him. He makes literature very easy to understand such that it has become my best subject. I don't get anything less than ninety-eight per cent on his tests. In Oakville High, excellence is prized above everything. Students aren't graded with As or Bs. A person with seventy per cent A and me who has nothing less than ninety-five aren't the same. If we were graded with As and Bs this person would feel relaxed with a seventy percent A and doesn't put in the effort to get better. He passes an empty sheet of paper to me and I give him a curious look. "Turn it over. " Picking up the paper, I turn it to reveal... Oh my Goodness! Sixty-two per cent? That's way below my standards. "Mr Raymond, this cannot be my script, I cannot believe this." "Me neither. You've never had such a low score before. You used to be our top student, winning competitions for the school and conquering every subject." "I still am!" I answer in frustration. We go silent for some time as I look away in thought, and then I train my eyes up at him, "I want it fixed." "Pardon?" Mr. Raymond feigns ignorance. He knows exactly what I'm asking for. He put me under these conditions. "I want it fixed," I replied angrily. An evil smirk spreads across his lips. He stands up and goes to lock the door to his office. He pulls me to himself, bringing me to my feet. My heart races in my chest and I look at the door. "Don't worry, it's locked," Mr. Raymond assures before going on to kiss me. He trails his hands over my waist, reaching down to my backside and squeezing it. It'll not be long before this man gives me an address to meet him in a hotel room. Yes, he's hot and like I said, he's my favourite teacher because he teaches well and I love literature, but I'm still conflicted about this little affair. Meeting with Mr. Raymond like this is the only way I feel loved. Mum and Dad hardly give me any attention as they're caught up in their issues. Mr. Raymond untucks my shirt from my skirt and reaches underneath to touch my skin. "So soft," he moans, trailing his hands up my body. I did not get frequent spa treatments just to be assaulted by this man. But if I stop him, my grades will go low and I won't be at the top of the class anymore. Cassidy who is the second best literature student has always been looking to my downfall. At least she's open about her hatred for me. Many students in school dislike me but are too cowardly to be open about it. I tilt my head upwards as Mr. Raymond trails kisses down my neck. He unbuttons my shirt until my bra is very visible to him and he trails kisses down to my chest. I look at the time on the wall clock. "Times up," I say and tap him on the head. "Just a little more," he moans and I push him away. He staggers back, glaring at me. I eye him as I start to button up my shirt and tuck it into my skirt. Mr Raymond's office is one of the secluded offices in the school. The school management thought it was a good idea to employ substitute teachers for all the subjects offered at the school. When the employment started, the literature teachers who came for the job interview were rejected because they weren't up to the school's standard. Even with all their rejection, they chose this morally grey man. The other downstairs offices had already been filled so they assigned these secluded ones to Mr. Raymond and one other teacher. My heart stops when I hear a snicker from Mr. Raymond's window. No one is supposed to be here. Mr Raymond shifts the curtains and peeps outside as I hastily wear my clothes properly. My hands are already trembling with fear. "Is anyone there?" Mr. Raymond shakes his head. "The coast is clear. " I point to my test script on his table. "Fix this." Without waiting for his reaction I grab my phone and walk out the door. I get to the hallway leading to the cafeteria and meet Bianca, just the person I want to see. After my stressful encounters with Mr. Raymond, Bianca is always there to talk me into a good mood. I don't tell her about me and Mr. Raymond. No one knows about us. But Bianca naturally has a way of making me happy. She throws her hand over my shoulder and I hold her by the waist. "Hey, bestie," she says, grinning. "How was your time with Mr. Raymond." "Cool," I reply, trying to sound okay. "Are you sure? You kind of looked stressed. Did you guys not have enough time together?" Okay, Bianca is acting strange. I furrow my eyebrows at her as she brings out her phone. We're now at the front of the cafeteria and I can't wait to get my food. But at the same time, I want to see what Bianca has on her phone. She puts it on and I die internally. My heart drops to my stomach and my legs freeze in place. Goosebumps spread rapidly over my skin as my breath catches in my throat. "Doesn't look like you had fun," Bianca whispers in my ears and walks into the populated cafeteria, leaving me transfixed at the entrance. Bianca has the picture of Mr. Raymond kissing my breast.
