Chapter 12

2420 Words
Tasia Tasia explained what happened in the infirmary room to Marcus, telling him about everything that was said and revealed. Which wasn't much. If anything, everything that was said was just a small piece to the actual piece that fits the puzzle. "Do you know anything about Alpha Trevor and his pack? Scarlet moon?" Tasia asked. Marcus shook his head as he stared out into the night. "To be honest not much, but from what I gather it sounds like maybe Thalia was a member of the pack. Why else would she and the son of the Alpha of Scarlet moon run away together? Maybe that's why they were being chased? I think any Alpha would stop at nothing to get the heir of the pack back to take his rightful place" Marcus said. Tasia furrowed her eyebrows at his theory. There were a few flaws in it but it could be possible. "Okay, but why would a future Alpha run away from his pack with someone who is not his fated mate?" Tasia questioned. Marcus stroked his chin with his thumb as if he were in deep thought about it. "I can see her being a member of the pack. He called her a fugitive and wouldn't go into why they have been in pursuit for these many years." She said thinking out loud. "Jasper is not the true future Alpha of scarlet moon," Lauren said appearing out of nowhere. She was a stealthy one, Tasia didn't even notice her sneak up on them. "Alpha Trevor is also not the original alpha of Scarlet moon. He used to be the Gamma. Scarlet moon underwent a horrible disaster a few years back, causing Trevor to be the only one suitable to be able to step up as Alpha." She said as she leaned against the door that lead to the balcony. Tasia turned her attention to the Luna and bowed her head in respect to her. "How many years ago was this?" Tasia asked. "5 years ago," Lauren said without hesitation. Bingo. "After Thalia and Jasper left here a few weeks ago, I did some digging. My husband, Alpha Ryan was informed that the famous pair of Rogues had been spotted nearby our borders and warned us to be careful as they brought destruction with them everywhere they ended up. But what everyone failed to say was that the pair of rogues were being chased. Sure packs often hunt dangerous rogues and rogue packs. But typically more than one pack is enlisted to help. Why was it only Scarlet moon chasing the pair?" Lauren said as she decided to push herself off the door to step outside and sit in a nearby chair, crossing her legs elegantly as she looked to Tasia. "Maybe no one knew they were being chased, or whom it was that was chasing them," Marcus said in a questionable tone. Lauren turned her attention to Marcus as he spoke and nodded her head. "That's very possible as it was a little difficult trying to figure out who the warriors were that were chasing them. " Lauren said "So what did happened when Alpha Ryan found Thalia and Jasper? why did he decide to help them?" Marcus asked curiously. It was obvious at this point that Alpha Ryan and Luna Lauren were very fond of Thalia, why else would they be so open to defending her. "They were working with a hunter," She said. That explains the arrow that Thalia was injured with. No wolf pack in their right mind would work alongside a werewolf hunter. What was Alpha Trevor thinking? Tasia was pretty sure Alpha Trevor could be charged for Treason for that. "Jasper had been shot, and the other wolves were going to kill Thalia. Ryan decided to stop them. So he brought Jasper and Thalia back here and we healed them as good as we could. There is something about Jasper that doesn't sit right with me. Something that I don't think Thalia can see. He sheltered her, convinced her he was the only one she could trust." Lauren said. Tasia closed her eyes to keep herself calm. The more she heard about Jasper, the more she wanted to go out and find him herself. Is that why he tried to force his mark upon her? to make her his forever? "You said you did some digging after they left. So what happened 5 years ago at scarlet moon?" Tasia asked ready to get to the point. "All I could find out was that the old Alpha of Scarlet moon, Derek Grant was murdered and it was the beta of the pack that did it. Trevor arrested the Beta and the Betas mate, they had a trial and the beta ordered the death penalty. His mate was deemed guilty by association but the northern Council agreed that she would just be imprisoned, but rumor has it she begged to be hung alongside her husband. Lauren said. "And where does Thalia fall into this? How is she connected?" Tasia asked. Lauren hesitated before she spoke as if she was trying to hold back something. "The beta and his mate had a daughter that was supposed to be tried with them." She said. Tasia's eyes widened. "She couldn't have been no more than 15 or 16. How could they possibly assume that a child would have anything to do with a murder of an Alpha?" Marcus said, disgust evident in his tone. Lauren shrugged her shoulders. "Guilty by association. Maybe they were going to imprison her with her mother, all they know is that she disappeared the night her father was arrested for the murder. And the Gamma's son, now known as Alpha Trevor.. disappeared that same night." She said. Lauren turned her attention to Tasia. She studied Tasia for a moment before speaking. "This probably hits a little close to home for you doesn't it?" Lauren asked. Tasia locked eyes with Lauren as she spoke her last words in an empathetic tone. She hadn't been thinking about it, but it was pretty similar to what happened to her. Except Louis didn't try to kill her right away. She also wasn't expecting Lauren to know about that. "How did you.. know about that?" Tasia asked. Marcus also seemed a little put back at Lauren bringing that up. "Before I became Luna of Acacia Moon, I was a rogue. You were young when your father passed...and your mother... you know. I used to be a warrior of Fiorire moon" Lauren said. Tasia felt as if she had been hit by a truck causing Marcus to reach out to her to make sure she was alright. "I idolized your father and knew that the moment Louis took over, that something wasn't right. I was one of the few that revolted against him. When it came down to it.. no one else had my back. If I didn't agree to leave the pack and never show my face in the south, then I would have died. I often feel like I should have done the honorable thing and died instead of running away like the coward I was" Lauren said. "No," Tasia said immediately. "There was already enough death going around. I'm glad you left. If you didn't. I don't think we would be here today." Tasia said. Lauren smiled and nodded at Tasia. "I can't believe I didn't recognize you at first. You have grown up to be an amazing woman. Your parents always knew you were special." Lauren said with heavy emotion in her voice. "You and Thalia are going to change things for the better. I just know it" She said hopefully. Tasia wasn't quite sure what she meant by that. But she was grateful for Lauren being there for Thalia when she needed it the most. "So what now? I can only Imagine Trevor is going to want to claim his right to put her on trial under the jurisdiction of the North. And I can't help but to think that the northern council member would be on his side" Tasia said. Lauren nodded her head in agreement as she thought about it. "Not if the other packs want an all territories trial," Ryan said, startling everyone who also seemed to be deep in thought. Lauren raised her eyebrow at him. "Why would they want to do that?, my love," She said to him, getting out of her chair and making her way over to him as he instantly wrapped his arm around her waist. "Like you mentioned earlier. I doubt that no one noticed that someone was in pursuit of Thalia and Jasper. If multiple packs were able to confirm that it was Scarlet Moon that was chasing them. Wouldn't that put them just as responsible for the so-called death and destruction that followed the pair everywhere they went? Like you said, most packs enlist help from other packs when it comes to rogues and rogue packs. It is very impolite to chase whoever it is you are hunting onto another pack's territory without being informed. Something like that could be taken as a declaration of war." Ryan said confidently as Lauren stared at her mate in astonishment. "What?" He asked her as he looked down at her. "How long have you been listening?" She asked as she pulled away and put her hands on her hips. Ryan smirked as he leaned down and planted a kiss on her forehead. "The whole time. I don't like it when you disappear on me without telling me where you are going" He said with a shrug. Lauren rolled her eyes at him. "So how should we go about getting other packs to testify against Trevor?" Tasia asked bringing them back to the important conversation. "I guess it's a good thing we are hosting an all territories conference this year isn't it?" Ryan said with a smug look. Tasia brought her fingers up to press against her temple. How could she forget the reason why they were here in the first place? It has been such a long day. "What about Jasper? We don't even know what part he has to play in this. Not to mention Thalia showed up without him. We don't even know what happened" Lauren asked. Tasia scoffed at her words. We know exactly what happened and why Thalia showed up alone. Lauren and Ryan looked at Tasia with a questionable look on their face. "He's a controlling freak who tried to force the bond on her. She lashed out on him and he ditched her. And then she was attacked by a hunter" Thalia said. Laurens's eyes widened. Anger and hatred were evident in her eyes. "I knew there was something about him," Lauren said. "He wouldn't even think twice about staying here a second longer with us. And he didn't want her getting close to us. You don't think that maybe.. he's involved.. do you?" Lauren said in a panicked and angry tone. Ryan caressed her shoulders to try and calm her down. "He's not" A soft but a soothing voice suddenly spoke. Damn, is everyone just able to sneak up on us today? what is going on? It's not like Tasia could be mad at this one. The sound of her voice alone was like a melody to her ears and brought her peace. She was concerned as to why she was up and about until Vincent answered her question she didn't even say out loud. "She insisted I brought her to you. She kind of threatened me and I wasn't sure how to respond to it." Vincent said sheepishly. She had looked to be doing a lot better. She healed pretty fast for being shot with silver and wolfsbane. She had managed to find some clothes that weren't an infirmary gown. She dressed in a pair of dark blue jean shorts and a white T-shirt that was a little baggy on her. She also seemed to have cleaned herself up and tidy up her hair so it wasn't hanging in her face. Thalia seemed to be a little hesitant to be at the center of attention in front of everyone. Tasia noticed that she was eyeing Marcus heavily. She had realized that Marcus still had a hand on her from earlier. Oh. Lauren went over and reached out for Thalia to pull her over to the chair to sit down with her and smoothed down her hair and checked her temperature with the back of her palm. Lauren was like a mother figure to Thalia. From the way Ryan gazed down at Lauren, he thought so too. "Don't take this the wrong way, but how do you know he's not?" Lauren asked carefully. Thalia refused to make eye contact with anyone before she spoke. "Jasper was abused by his father as a child. Relentlessly. From what I know, when Jasper's mother passed away when he was little, Trevor took out his anger on Jasper behind closed doors. I only found out because I witnessed it one day. He begged me not to tell Alpha Derek. So I didn't. The day that I was forced to leave the pack" She trailed off. It must have been painful for her to look back on that day. "Jasper followed me. I was 16, I didn't have my wolf. He had just turned 18 and gained his. I didn't want him to come with me, I didn't want a target on his back too. But I was all he had. And he became all I had left." She said. "Don't think that I am naïve enough to not notice that he's different. I did notice. What do you expect though? Going through what we did for that long is not easy. We were convinced that there was no one in this world that we could trust. Of course, that would drive someone mad. People do crazy things when they feel something or someone important to them is about to be taken away. He just needs help" Thalia said with pleading eyes. This was, even more, to take in. Tasia had a feeling she wouldn't be able to be rid of jasper that easily, she was even expecting Thalia to defend him. But what if finding out that Thalia found her fated mate, makes the situation even worse? What if he tries to intentionally hurt Thalia next time? Tasia had a lot to process.
