Chapter 3

"We're here Alex" matt sighed as he pulled over to a spot a few metres away from the school. Alex said nothing. He had been silent, probably absent minded lost in thoughts or something and hadn't heard the question and as if he had known he wasn't listening matt spoke again. "Alex, come on were here" "What" he raised his brows as his words snapped him out of his thoughts. "Were in coast city, particularly close to that school you have to go to". "were at p.c.a" he asked "Yeah now come on those suitcases won't get their selves out of the trunk" he said as he offed the engine and got out the car. "Why didn't you park in one of the spots inside the school" he questioned as he got out of the car, realizing the distance from where they were to the school. It was a good 5 minute walk. "I figured walking in with your old man wasn't cool, didn't want to embarrass you" "It's okay" he began removing the suitcases one by one from the trunk. "I mean its not like you can embarrass me anymore than you have over the years". "That seems like the last of it" matt dusted his hands as he removed the last of his son's bags from the car. "Thanks dad" he smiled."You sure you don't want to come with me, Jace would love to see you again and I could use some help with all these bags. "I'm sure, I already talked to Jace earlier plus you could use the exercise maybe that'll teach you to lighten your load next time you travel. "I'm gonna miss you dad, take care of aunt Maggie for me" "Of course" "I love you dad" he hugged him "I love you too" he gently pulled away with his hands on each of his shoulders. "take care of yourself alright, if you need anything just call and if you ever feel like you can't handle it anymore make the call and I'll bring you home no questions asked" He nodded. "Guess this is goodbye" "No, see you later" he smiled and they both chuckled. "See you later then" he sniffled trying to hide the tears seeing as his dad didn't have any. "See you later" And with that he picked up His bags and waved goodbye. He had only walked for a few seconds, he wanted to turn and wave again when he heard the car engines Rev and the sound of the car zooming off. And in a whisk of what felt like pain or regret, he wanted to race after it or make that call and go home suddenly feeling that he had made a mistake about coming here. But he sucked it up and continued feeling the burn of the suitcases he was lugging. Matt was right about him needing exercise, that and he needed to lighten up his load. And he smiled about the thought as he marched on the tiled road leading to the entrance of his school. School didn't seem like it had changed much. The concrete floor and sky blue painted walls were familiar. Not to mention the smell. It smelled exactly the same like awkwardness and sweat. Jason hadn't been kidding about that party cause he was only inches into the gate when they all charged at him, with balloons and welcome banners as if they had anticipated the exact moment he would arrive. "Alex" Jason smiled as he pulled him in for a hug. "Long time no see huh" he replied as he pulled away. And within seconds he was surrounded by at least a crowd of fifty - his popularity had definitely increased since he left, all welcoming him with hugs and handshakes. "Alright, alright" Jason ordered squeezing His way through the crowd. "He just got back, why dont we give him some room" he continued putting a hand around his shoulder. "thanks" Alex whispered. "Dont thank me yet, wait till you see your party" "It gets better?" he asked expectantly. "You have no idea" he grinned, leading him into the school building. The rest of the crowd followed behind them. They walked the halls until they stood at the entrance of the auditorium. Alex could barely believe what he was seeing. Hot girls as far as the eye could see, all in bikinis. There were drinks too and not the type you had at a party you threw for a friend, the type they had at underground pubs and stripping clubs. Brandy, whiskey, vodka, the whole lot. His mouth was half open and he felt his jaw drop when he looked over to the other side of the place. There was a throne. Literally. It even had his initials carved into the leather. It was placed high on the stage, above all the stairs. The music was insane, so loud the whole ground shook. Alex was silent. He stood speechless with his mouth open as he studied the place. He tried to say something but it had ended up sounding like blunder. "I-i-i um how...." he blurted "Its okay, go ahead, take some time to take it all in" Jason intruded tapping his shoulders noticing his loss for words. "Um" he started carefully selecting His next choice of words so he didn't mumble out gibberish. "How did you do all this" he managed. "Worry about that later, now it's all about you" he smiled. "If you say so" he smiled weakly. "Come on enjoy yourself" he nudged him."hey someone take away these bags, let's give the man some room and can we get some drinks here, move people" he ordered and within instants his suitcases had disappeared from his hands and they were both holding glasses of tequila. "To you" he raised his glass for a toast. "No to you" he countered and they drank the whole thing down. He felt a buzz afterwards and hoped it had not been too noticeable. "You'll get use to it" Jason laughed. Guess it had been noticeable after all. "Let's hope so" he chuckled nervously. "Ladies and gentlemen" Jason shouted getting the attention of the entire crowd."I present to you" he paused again for effect."The man of the hour" another pause, it was starting to come together. he had all of them now. They were staring at him in suspense like they had no idea who he was introducing, though it had been previously announced exactly who the party was for. Highschool students right. Jason stared at them silently. He smiled victoriously, deepening his pause to sink it all in before he continued. "Alex" he screamed with his hands raised. "Woo" everyone chorused. The crowd had gone wild.
