"Alex....Alex help me pls" she whispered amidst the pain as tears built up in her eyes
"Mom, mom its okay I'm here" he said as he grabbed her hand while the rest of her body laid still, paralyzed within what seemed like an empty law firm or precinct. Her eyes filled with fear and her shirt was stained completely with blood due to bullet in her chest.
"Alex, Alex plssss... I.. I don't want to die" she cried
"Your not gonna die mum, I promise I'll protect you"
"Why Alex why did you let me die, why didn't you save me, you should have saved me son"
"Mum, mum no"
"Why Alex, why?" She disappeared from his arms.
"Mum, mum" he screamed.
.......
"Huh" he gasped breathing quickly as he woke up realising it had been a dream. He opened his eyes to meet his dad and aunt staring at him.
"It's okay sweety, you were just having a nightmare" aunt Maggie, his moms sister hugged him.
"Are you okay son, do you want me to call a doctor or the therapist, I could get your medicine...."
"It's okay dad I'm fine" he replied as he released aunt Maggie's grip from him.
"Are you sure" she asked worried.
"Yeah" he smiled weakly. "Um hey what time is it" he asked as he slowly got up so that he was sitting at the edge of the bed.
"Past seven, why" his father raised his brows.
"I wanna make sure we leave on time so we can get to P.c.a before noon"
"Are you crazy" aunt Maggie screamed.
"You expect us to let you go there with this little episode you just pulled off, no your staying, you need more time and more therapy, Alex look..."
"That's not your choice to make dad" he yelled as he stood up facing him."it's my choice and I've had enough okay, I'm going back to school with or without your consent and there is nothing you can do to stop me" he looked at him in the eye dead serious.
He stared back unblinkingly as if trying to recognise the son he had given birth to in the eyes of the man in front of him before storming and banging the door loudly behind him.
"Baby pls" aunt Maggie tried to reason with him. "There are lots of good schools here and you can go to any one of them but p.c.a, that's thousands of miles away"
"I know"
"What if you have another episode and you need me, need us" her eyes filled with love and concern.
"I won't" he replied blankly
"But..."
"Aunt Maggie I need to take a shower and get dressed. He cut her off not being able to stand the sound of her voice anymore. "you should too, I have a long drive ahead of me" he said as he led her to his door.
She sighed and kissed him on his forehead as she opened it and left.
He exhaled deeply running his hands through his hair before taking off his clothes and heading into the shower.
........
In twenty minutes he was out of his bathroom with a towel around his waist and was brushing his hair in front of the mirror. He dropped the brush on the side of the table and walked towards his closet. Originally he had planned to wear a T-shirt and a plain pair of pants but since he was expecting a party he might as well dress in party attire. He picked out a white shirt,Black jean trousers with a black spiky Jacket and boots. He put them on and ruffled his already combed hair to make it look rough. Just rough enough to look hot and cool. He examined himself in the mirror for what seemed like a good ten minutes before picking up His suit case and running down the stairs.
He reached the living room to find a frustrated and troubled father staring outside their window.
"Hey" he smiled.
"Hey" matt cross replied as he shifted his attention from the window to his son.
"Um, i'm ready to go"
"Aren't you gonna have breakfast"
"I'm not hungry"
"But.." He sighed."Never mind. why don't you go kiss your aunt Maggie goodbye and meet me outside".
"Sure" he paused. "uh are you okay dad" he placed a hand on his shoulder noticing the troubled look on his face
"I'm fine son" he forced a smile and walked out the door.
After what seemed like an eternity of goodbye's and hugging with aunt Maggie. He was finally out the door and in the car. He could still see her crying and waving as matt pulled the car around the driveway. He smiled and waved until she was completely out of sight. Then he picked up his phone and texted Jason.
On my way, see you soon
He dropped it in his pocket and relaxed comfortably in the passengers seat of Matt's SUV easing himself for the long, stressful drive to coast city, before falling asleep drooling, leaning his head on the window while his dad smiled at him as he watched him from the rear view mirror.
