--- Chapter 2 Emily POV Gracefield Hospital The room went silent—so silent it felt like even the air stopped moving. I was still standing by the door, trying to escape the tension, when Ethan suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me back. “You’re not leaving until you explain why you wanted to hit Isabella,” he spat. I blinked, shock rising in my chest. Hit Isabella? Me?, asking myself this question.Isabella stood there acting like the victim, and for a second, I actually thought Ethan was on her side. “You can’t be serious,” I said, my voice shaking. “You don’t even know how it started, and you’re already jumping to conclusions.” “Enough!” Victoria finally spoke, Explaing what happened to EthanMrs.She turned to Isabella giving her the look to apologize to me.But Isabella simply walked out and slammed the door like the dramatic brat she was. I sighed and bowed slightly to Mrs. Blackwood telling her I will check up on her some other day, before giving Ethan an annoyed look.If looks could kill, he would’ve dropped. As I stepped out, I heard Mrs. Blackwood telling Ethan that he should have been calm, that Isabella disappointed her by hitting me.I paused outside the door long enough to hear Ethan reply coldly, “She deserved it. Next time she won’t be rude to me.” I scoffed under my breath. This man is a demon. --- Hillcrest Street The cold breeze hit my face as I dragged my feet along Hillcrest Street, heading home. When I left the store, the anger returned like a wave. I couldn’t believe how the whole day went. --- House 7 I pushed the door open and stepped inside. My exhaustion disappeared for a moment when I saw Clara—my best friend—on the couch watching a movie with my mom. They didn’t even notice me. “So you people can’t even sense your own daughter?” I said playfully. They both turned, surprised. “Emily! When did you arrive?” Mom asked. “Not long,” I said, dropping my bag and sitting next to Clara. She hugged me instantly. “I missed you, big head.”Her smile dropped as she studied my face. “Why do you look sad?” Mom’s worry kicked in immediately. “What’s wrong, my baby?” “It’s just some i***t that pissed me off today.” Clara shot up like fire. “Who dared piss off my big head?!” I explained everything—every detail. I never hide things from them.Clara asked why didn’t slap her back,Then mom answered I didn't need to fight back, that God sees my heart. “But that man is a demon,” I muttered. Clara wrapped an arm around me. “Oh, my sweet girl,” she teased, making me smile finally.“Come on, let’s go so you can shower,” she said, pulling me upstairs while Mom went to prepare food. --- Regal Paradise – Blackwood Mansion (Still My POV) The place is called Regal Paradise because it evokes wealth power and comfort. It is aluxurious and majestic place Ethan arrived home, cold as usual. He walked past his father like he didn’t exist. Mr. Blackwood asked, “How is she?” Ethan turned around with disgust. “Since when did you start caring about my mom?” The whole mansion was always a battlefield. Even without being there, I could imagine Ethan’s cold face and his father’s anger filling the air. --- Few Days Later – Gracefield Hospital Mrs. Blackwood was being discharged. I came to see her, and she pulled me into a gentle hug thanking me for all I did and apologizing about everything that happened.I reciprocated the hug, saying it was all in the past and I'm not angry smiling. “I love your spirit,” she said warmly. “I’ll invite you to dinner soon, so we can talk properly.”she said softly. “I’ll look forward to it,” I said.
